Do you pay the extra $$ for a king bed?

Question for couples traveling without children: I'm curious how many people pay the extra money for a king bed. If not, do you just use one bed or sleep in separate beds. My wife and I are staying at ASMu, where Kings are only a request. If we upgrade to a mod, it will cost 600.00 more, but will give us a king bed. A few told me (on another thread) not to upgrade, but I am curious to hear from couples traveling without children.

Nope. We have been upgraded only once out of 3 times and it was at ASMu, but not at POFQ or WL. And we have a king at home so it is a bit of a bummer but you can do alot with $600.

Wouldn't pay the extra money just for a king bed, but if there's 2 double beds, you betcha we're in our own beds! Queen we can manage, doubles, forget it. Been married too long to have to sleep in the same bed, quality (of sleep) not quantity anymore (at least for a few nights)!! Personally, before becoming a DVC member, if we couldn't afford or get a good deal at one of the 'deluxe' resorts, we'd stay at the All Star Resorts (budgets) vs the moderates. That's just us.

My DH and I just got married in July. We had a king on our honeymoon and hated it. There was too much space between us. But, we are newlyweds and like to touch, so, we wouldn't pay the extra for a king. Again, that is us now. Ask again in 5 years it may be different.

I'll be your future .... my wife and I just passed the 5 year mark. We started with a double, moved up to a queen, now we have a king ... what comes next? Twin beds??

Kidding .... still love my wife more than anything! (just like space when I sleep)

No, not twin beds in 5 years, I was joking. I think it ends with a King so you have room for the two kids, cat, and the dog to all sleep with ya too.

They already try. Well, the 2 cats do sleep with us, the puppy is crate trained (YAY!!) and if the kid could, she would sleep with us, 15-30 minutes of snuggles each morning have to do for her now.

As a side note, my grandparents have been married for 60 years and they still sleep in the same bed!!! I wanna be like them!

We always request a king bed but I wouldn't pay $600 more for one. If we end up with two double beds then we sleep in separate beds. DH likes to spread out when he sleeps so there would be no room for me if we both tried to sleep in a double bed.
