do you pay for under 3?

I know they get into WDW for free when they are under 3. My question is about eating. My 1 1/2 year old DS doesn't really eat much, will I have to pay for him at a buffet type restaurant, like Chef Mickeys? Do I have to pay for him at a sit down restaurant? I'm sure this has been answered before, but I couldn't find any treads. Thanks

You have to pay for whatever they eat at a counter-style establishment, and I think you have to pay for them at a sit-down restaurant where you order off the menu. But I remember my kids (both under 3 at the time) eating for free at the character meals, and I think that is true of any buffet-style restaurant. Call Disney dining to be absolutely sure.

My son is 2 and we just returned from Disney last weekend. We were not charged for his meals at O'hana, Chef Mickey's, or the Crystal Palace.

Buffets are free under 3 (and character meals). Everything else you have to pay (sit down, bar type, etc).

you don't pay at set-price meals, like buffets and ohanas, but anything where you order specific food you would have to pay for that food. You acn just ask for a plate and share a meal though, I don't intend to order any food specifically for my 13 month old dd, she will just share ours

When we went to a sit down, we just asked for an extra plate and my 21/2 ate whatever we had. The servings were so big, there was plenty to share.!The first three nights we ordered her own plates from the kids menu and it was a waste, she hardly ate anything! No one said anything neg. at all, they seemed to agree.

Correct - no charge for buffets and "pre=plated" or family style character meals for children under three. If you order an item at a sit down or counter service place (such as a kids meal of chicken nuggets, etc.) then you would be charged for that item, but not at the character meals, buffets and other set price menus.
