Wondering how many people pay for the waterviews or MK view rooms.

If you have done it...would you ever go back to Garden View or was it not worth the extra money you spent?

We have had a MK view last 3 trips. 2 were full castle view and one was a lagoon view with Space Mountain. Honestly, we kept thinking we would sit on our balcony and get to enjoy it more than we actually did. Don't get me wrong our views have been gorgeous, but we are doing a Garden View when we head back in October. We just cannot justify the cost this trip. It's one of those things if we were offered a complimentary MK view we would jump on it, but paying $700-$1000 extra for a view just isn't our cards now. Oh, and I am thrilled over the moon with our Garden View Reservation!!!!!!! We're going to Disney World BABY!!
:goodvibes

we have paid for the MK view at CR every time - and it's worth every penny - especially for me, who loves to watch the day unfold from the balcony, the sounds of the geese flying by, the howling dog from HM, the horn from the railroad - everything about that view is worth it to me

I wouldn't pay for a water view at a moderate resort because you don't have a balcony, you just have a big window next to the door in your room. If I was staying at a deluxe I would. I would love to sit on the balcony and see Wishes.

We have once asked for and paid for a room with a view. That was in 2004 when we took our oldest son and his girlfriend to celebrate his high school graduation at the Polynesian. The girlfriend had never been to Disney and we wanted this to be a special trip for the two of them. We have been upgraded, without even asking, at the Contemporary (we paid for a garden view and ended up in a Tower room with a view of the Magic Kingdom) and we have always been upgraded at the CSR from a standard view to a lovely water view of the lake. The only other place that I would pay for a view is the Animal Kingdom Lodge, but I can't justify the expense of staying at a deluxe, let alone paying for a room with a view (not with two boys in college especially).

We shell out the bucks for certain things. This trip we are doing MK view at CR. I always book a savannah view at AKL unless it is not available. Waterview I never pay for. We did get a waterview upgrade at BW once though and it was really pretty looking out over the boardwalk and the lake.

If I can get a good AP rate or a 40% code I would book a lagoon or MK view at Poly. If I had an AP rate for CR or if there were tower rooms available with my 20% I would book that. But at rack rate I wouldn't.

I've both paid for view(WL, Cont and BWI) and not payed for view(AKL and Yacht Club) and I must say I do like the view if there is a balcony. This time we did pay for courtyard view but like others have said that was based upon a postcard with 40 percent off.

OK, after reading all your posts, I must ask.. Am I being silly? I just booked a room at POFQ for August and requested river view? Is it not worth The extra$90 for 6 nights (total)? I just thought looking out my window seeing water... but when I think about what you wrote... no private balcony... Am I being silly?:confused3

It's all your own personal preference. If you're going to enjoy looking out your window and seeing it, then go for it. You surely aren't the only person in the world who books it. I'm sure for some people, it's quite enjoyable. For others it's not worth it.

I think it very much depends on the person, and what the view is.

When at the Contemporary I will gladly shell out the extra dollars for an MK view. I've enjoyed wishes from my balcony several times and it was really quite nice to wake up to a view of Cinderella Castle.

DB has spone very highly of some MK view rooms at the Polynesian as well.

When I'm at the Boardwalk I have never considered the view, but it might be nice to have an actual view of the Boardwalk some time.

Exactly, it is mosty a matter of personal preference. Personally I don't really care about a view too much at all. Not that I want to look out on a dumpster but otherwise I'm not too fussy. We are actually staying at CR Wing and I booked "standard view" which is pretty much a guranteed parking lot view! It would be nice to have the MK view someday but I'm already stretching my budget just to stay Deluxe.

We booked a savannah view bunk bed room. Havent went yet, but for us, it was justified because this is kind of a splurge trip for us at thsi point. Hoenstly, the reason we chose AKL was due to the animals, so dh said if we were going to stay there, we might as well go all the way and get savannah view while we were at it. AKL has been my dream resort hotel since I first saw it. I have a thing for Africa and tribes, and I at one point considered being an anthropologist and studying tribes. Anyhow, it seemed the logical choice for me, and I was so thrilled when Dh picked this resort( I had a few in mind, but let him make the ultimate decision..ive made almost every other one since regarding the vaca!lol)

I have paid for a view at CR, WL, and AKL - that is about the only resorts that I would pay extra for a particular view.....

I have to say if we were to stay at CR I would have to splurge on a MK view :)

The only view that I would pay for would be a savannah view at AKL, and even then it's hard to justify the expense.

We pay the extra DVC points for a Boardwalk view. Sitting on the balcony and watching the comings and goings of the people and the Friendship boats was one of my favorite parts of the trip.

You will only see the river if your curtains are open. We hardly has ours open because of the amount of people always walking past our room. I'm happy we didn't pay for a water view.

When I stay at a mod, I pay for waterview, just to be sure I dont get a parking lot view. Definitely worth it to me.

We've never paid for one, but received it anyways on multiple occasions. We usually keep our curtains closed so it's no big deal to us.
