Do you own any other timeshare

Hi Jim,

Did you keep Marriott Cypress Harbour when you moved to Orlando? I know it would make a big difference for us on what we owned if we lived in Orlando. I'd still keep some DVC points, though! :)

We own two EOY lock off 2 bedrooms at resorts that are within driving distance of our home. Like you, one of these is even and the other odd. We may eventually just end up with one other timeshare besides our DVC points to keep our II account.

3Disneykids - some of those Getaway prices make it worth a weekend getaway (and just not use the other days).

Yes, for the first year. But now CH is on the block. And this is not a knock on the resort. It is a fabulous resort. But when added on at AKV we were surplus a week and CH was at the bottom of the list.

Jim, what seasons and any problem reserving the weeks you want since you can't take advantage of the 13 month reservation option.

Hi Dean,

We own platinum at both and go during the two month period February to March. Never had a problem with reservations.

Yeah, Marriott Cypress Harbour is a terrific resort. But since you're in Orlando now, that has to make a big difference on ownership.

We'll be at Cypress Harbour New Years week. I'm letting my kids and nieces and nephews stay on site on our DVC points.

Enjoy your trip!

What surprised me is that we added on at AKV after being in Orlando for eight months. We do day trips to all of the theme parks but there is still something special about the "total experience".

We own 3 weeks at the Royal Sands in Cancun and 1 week at the Royal Hacienda in Playa Del Carmen. They are hands down much better then DVC, but DVC is much better then any other timeshare in the US!

Too bad DVC couldn't set something up with Interval International where DVC members could have access to some of Interval's cash Getaway weeks - Maybe a (generic) log-in or link to the II site for buying a cash Getaway. It would make a nice perk for a lot of members. Yesterday my cousin and I logged into my II account and there were some off season Getaway weeks in Arizona at the Westin Kierland in 1 bedrooms and they were less than $400 with tax! Divide $400 by seven nights and that's $57.14 a night.:)

That would be wonderful.

I already use my sister's RCI in that manner. Even buying a one time Vistor's certificate, or 5 years of VC, it's so cheap.

The last minute specials, 45 days out, are S-$211, 1-$232, 2 -$264 3-$264 I believe. Full week. I"m on there all the time scanning with her password. The one bedrooms work out to $30 something a night, $40 something with the VC. The other cash specials, not last minute, I think start at $500 something for studio. One time visitor's certificates are $64. Or $175, I think that's the amount on that pass, for five years of VCs.

Even with paying for the VC on a one time basis we paid, taxes included, $323 for a week in Williamsburg in September. Lovely time. And a lot of times Gold Crown resorts make it into the fold.

My sister is down in Daytona right now with her daughters and two friends. They paid $264 total because she is the owner.

I thought of buying another timeshare. But I won't now. These prices are less than dues plus RCI membership. I'm not picky with where we go and have no issue with booking a week off and waiting to see what's there. If I scan the inventory regularly it gives me any idea of what to expect and can even book flights since the same areas come up over and over. My parents are using it to stay a month in Florida this year. In February. They will buy a 5 year vistor's pass on her membership and their total cost will be under $1500, taxes included, for a month in Florida during a very high price month.

I would love if Disney would allow us into the II cash specials. But then again, I wouldn't want it if they had to charge a II membership to make the change.

You do not have to be family to use this, with RCI, and book/pay for a visitor's certificate. Friends are eligible as well.

We just go the news this week that our Starwood Harborside at Atlantis resale is complete. :cool1:

It is an EOY 1BR unit so we have to wait for 2009 to go there, again, bu tin the meantime, we have a week that the owners left over. There's not much opportunity to use it in what's left of 2007, so we're going to try to deposit it with II and see what we can get for 2008.

Any recommendations for a family of 3 with a 6yo son?

We split out 2 bedroom and deposited two one bedroom units in II. We got a two bedroom in Maui for the one side and a one bedroom into DVC. I think you will be pleased with the trades you can get. We logged into II every morning to see what was available at that moment. Plus with depositing a Starwood week, you will have a 48 hour "starwood" preference on any starwood deposits.

That would almost certainly be the choice. Pay yearly fees, pay the regular exchange rates but have access to getaways, other resorts and uptrades that DVC members don't currently have.
