appliance delivery person(s)?

we are having a small chest freezer delivered this week and was wondering?

TIA!

I had a washer delivered last week and I gave the guy $10. He was very thankful.

I had no idea you would tip delivery people until I started reading about it on this board. When I had furniture delivered from a warehouse 5 years ago, I gave no tip, and now I feel kind of bad about that, but I had no idea.

Out of curiosity - where does doing your job end (to which you get paid) and going above your job (where you should get a tip)

If they're just installing into an empty spot I usually tip $10 an appliance. If they are removing and then installing I gave $20.
Don't know why I tip but I just do. :confused3

Well, I have tipped furniture delivery people before, but not anyone else. Furniture delivery sometimes includes assembling some of the furntiure so that has prompted a tip in the past.
This is the first I have heard of this. When does the tipping end?

I agree. I am already paying for the delivery and whatever else I negotiated in that price. If I asked them to rearrange my living room furniture, move the piano, etc, then I would tip. For just doing their jobs? No.

WE had our new fridge from HOme Depot delivered a few months ago and the poor delivery guy had to remove the doors to get it into the kitchen then put the doors back on once in. I tried to tip him $10 and he refused it. The nice fellow told me to go buy my kids a toy! :goodvibes

$ 5.00 if Screw Driver Holder is Showing

$ 10.00 if Screw Driver Holder Not Showing.

I had a washer and dryer delivered two weeks ago and I didn't tip. I paid $60 for delivery and a grand total of $150 for installation. There was no way I was tipping on top of that.

This is related. Anytime I have workers at my house (carpet installers, painters, contractors, etc.) I always fix them a nice lunch. I tell them to throw out their sandwiches because they are going to have a nice sit down lunch in the kitchen. I've never had my offer turned down once. I give a nice home cooked meal with ice tea! :)
