With the sub zero temps out there, I'm just wondering if anyone else works outdoors like my DH. He just started working for the railroad and is outside for up to 12 hours a shift. I feel bad for him, but he says as long as you dress for the weather, it's not that awful.

I think he's crazy.

Do you brave the elements to bring home a paycheck?

I do. I work as concession stand manager in the summertime at minor league baseball team. Just think about this 100 degrees outside and the heat index about 115. Yes i do it for the paycheck. It pays really good above 8.00 hr and it's fun. It beats my current job that have now only paying 5.50 hr. I am going back to work April 3 the majors is comming to the park I can't wait.

My DH is a land surveyor. He is freezing his toes off in the field as I type this.

My DH is a Fuels Specialist (Fuels the planes) in the Air Force. It gets mighty cold on the flightline with no trees to block the wind, and concrete under your feet. He looks like a snowman in cammies in the winter. He works nights so it is even colder. BRRRRR...

DH works for Verizon as a field tech. in Manhattan. He is outside freezing in this brutal weather. He said it's worth it, he gets paid well!!! I couldn't handle it.

My father and brother are both pipefitters and work outside, often in ditches.

While I was in college I would work with them during the summer and Christmas breaks.

Even down here, it gets cold working in wet or windy wintery conditions!

DH used to work outside doing construction. I used to hate it when he had to work in the extreme cold. But he would dress really warm and usually the only thing on him that would get cold was his face. He works inside now and is very happy that he doesn't have to work out in the cold anymore.

this is my 17th year. Its not the winters that are bad, its the summers....they can be BRUTAL!!!

My husband is a letter carrier with a walking route. He is outside from 6-8 hours, 5-6 days a week. Rain is worse than snow but the cold and heat can get to you also. Please keep your walkways clear and ice free if possible. They will thank you.
