The last time I was there was in '99 and they did not take PS at that time. I am going down by myself in September and was thinking of going during the week. Does it get crowded? Should I make a PS?
i would make the PS ahead, just in case the time/day you want to do the tea is a busy time - you could also just show up when you want & perhaps they could seat you - i made a PS for myself at the tea next month!
I just made a booking yesterday for Afternoon Tea at the GF in October. I asked the CM if it was really necessary to make a PS and apparently it is getting really popular and they are advising people who don't want to be disappointed to make one. If you don't use it you can always cancel it.
We were there early withought a PS once. They told us we had to wait for PS's to show up then we could be let in. It worked out that time, but I imagine they told that to me because they planned on being booked. I'd say PS is a good idea.
It would probably depend on when you were going to WDW ... When I was there in May, the place was empty around 5:00 PM. There were only 2 other tables with people... Of course, it could have been empty because most people thought it was too hot outside to come inside for tea I would say you should make one, that way you won't be disappointed if the place is full.
I went ahead and called and made a PS. I am going by myself so I can just work my schedule however I want. The tea will be a nice break in my day.
Thanks for all your input
If you know when you want to go, it's always better safe than sorry to go ahead and make PS. However, we went to tea on 6/8 at 4:30 and were one of only three occupied tables. We had a great time. There were 6 of us; me, DH, 20yoa DS, his 22yoa girlfriend, 20yoa DD, & 18yoa DS. Most of us ordered different teas and menu items then shared around the table. Probably good thing the the place was nearly empty cuz I'm sure we weren't following proper English ettiquette All of the kids are waiters so they bonded with our server. She was following very proper service (i.e. serving from the left, serving oldest female first, etc) so the kids were asking her about it and what her background was and how the kitchen was run etc. We order a cheese sampler than my eldest son loved so much that he quizzed her about spellings and descriptions on the cheeses so much that she went back into her locker and brought out her cheat sheets that she'd been issued to memorize and gave them to him. We ended up closing the restaurant at 6:00 and were the only patrons left. Our server brought us all extra desserts since she said that the threw them out every night. We weren't hungry after eating the food we'd ordered and after many desserts and pots of tea each we left stuffed. Not just the food, but the service, music (my kids are also all music majors), and ambiance made for a very memorable evening for us. I'd love to write a comp letter to WDW ref our server. Does anyone know who to address it to?
