Do you need a map?

On our last trip, DH was driving me crazy with his need to stop and consult the map before we headed to a new attraction. He didn't believe that I could possibly have the location of all the rides and eateries in all 4 parks memorized. But I can get just about anywhere in any park without a map. DHS doesn't have a good "wheel and spokes" design like the other ones do, so sometimes I do need to peak at the map to get my bearings.

So, how about you? Can you navigate the parks map free?

I can for the most part get around all 4 parks without a map. I know MK and Epcot like the back of my hand and never need one. Occasionally, I have to pull one out at DHS and AK b/c we don't got there as much. Makes life soooo much easier not to have consult a map at every turn. Now I just have to navigate around the people who stop in the middle of the walkways to consult theirs!

we can get around the parks without a map

but DH likes to have one on hand, as something to look at when he's standing on a line somewhere....

Besides DHS, I we don't use a map. But I find DHS a little confusing sometimes.

I had a season pass to Cedar Point in OH one year and knew where everything was. I used to get so annoyed with the people who would stop in the middle to read theirs! Now I feel bad because I do that in Disney LOL and everyone has to walk around me!! Sorry everyone!!

I am directionally challenged whether I have a map or not. :rotfl2: :lmao:

I don't need a map...I just follow DH (who doen't need a map.)

However, I do consult the map for points of interest I don't want to forget to do / see. I also look for anything I haven't done yet or in a while. But, I don't stop in the middle of the walkway...I read while I am standing in line.

Only if I'm with a smoker. Don't know where all the smoking areas are.

I know where the attractions and bathrooms are, though. :)

I have been to WDW 20+times and I still grab a map at every park, at every visit. I am just a map person. And while I do KNOW where everything is, for some reason it just makes me feel better to consult the map. Just my quirk, I don't know how to explain it. I don't need it but I feel secure when I have it.

I photo copy a black and white no frills map out of my guidebook. It won't have every detail but it will be about 4" x 4" so no re-folding!!! and fits in my pocket. I usually map out (pun intended) where we'll go next as we stand in line. (Always thinking ahead this one:rotfl: ) I keep the gianto map around just in case details are ever needed and I usually bring these pretty ones home to share with friends

Only been 3 times and I am pretty comfortable without a map. I usually grab a times guide, and sometimes a map just in case, but for the most part I don't need to use one any more. Bathrooms are the only thing to find sometimes but I do think that there is more than enough signage in the parks to help point those out.

We've pretty much got them etched in our brains here, too.

Dan, now I might have believed you if you had said you had trouble at MK or EPCOT but AK is so small and you are soooo tall that I am absolutely certain that you can just stand up and see just about everything. :thumbsup2

No park maps. I sometimes grab them for others back home.

I do use the resort room locator map once to locate my room, and orrient myself around the resort.

I also know the basic layout of the Lake Buena Vista area, but do consult a street map when driving around. Otherwise that area can be downright confusing.

I don't need maps for MK or Epcot, DH likes to joke that I can give tours I know them so well! :rotfl: I often repeat the fun facts that we've discovered on previous tours while we past them. It's annoying, yet tradition!:goodvibes

AK and DHS I need maps. I'm seriously lost.:confused3 I find DHS so confusing! Those side streets, I'm always discovering new things there. And there are a lot of dead ends!!

In AK, I had no idea there were walking trails to see the animals!!!:rotfl: We discovered them last trip. Just not my favorite park, I don't pay much attention. I will now! This trip I want to find the Dino Dig! My boys would love that!:) It's true, I know nothing about AK!! We go for the safari and pocohantas and leave. We promise to stay and see more this trip :)

I can't live without a set of all four parks show times guide (what do you call that sheet???) I have to have the most up to date and all four parks on me all the time during our trip. Just in case we want to hop over somewhere I need to know what's going on. Plus they list the EMH which I always forget! How did I survive before those time sheets??? I don't remember??

Not - Even - Slightly. :woohoo:

I know where all the bathrooms are, too - wihtout 'em! :thumbsup2

Ill even stop when I see someone REALLY struggling with a map, and guide them myself.

BUT - I still take maps. We've been collecting them since 1996!!! :)

We never use maps (just take them for souvenirs, of course ;))! For some inexplicable reason, Leonard and Neil become completely disoriented upon exiting any and every building within future world in Epcot :confused3, so they should consult a map there, but this navigation-savvy third of VBsHustla always gets them through! :thumbsup2

I can probably navigate pretty good without one, but I'm sure I would miss a lot. I know the main attractions, especially in MK, but I need a map. My DS is a map nut, we spent a good 15 minutes looking at the map on Tom Sawyers Island, I have many pictures of him examining maps on our last trip. He is 5 and probably wouldn't need one, but I do :lmao:
