Such a dumb question. But still, just wondering, does anyone miss those TV shows that they have gotten used to watching while on vacation? Like those cliff hangers on the soaps or season finalies? I guess when in Disney you could really care less about TV!!!!!

LOL!
Well, I will be taping my soap while I am gone. We will be gone for 13 days......10 weekdays & I am trying to figure out how to get 10 hours of soap on one tape! :p

Then I keep thinking knowing MY luck, the day we leave there will be a thunderstorm that night & we will lose power & I will miss the soap of the whole 2 weeks!

Oh well.......it's not like I am going to die if I miss the soap for a few weeks.

I know it sounds so lame. But I tape my soaps everyday and watch them at my leisure. I haven't been away for an extended period of time in some time. If you only tape one show a day (good for you) then skip a day or two. I know that we can walk away from those daytime dramas for a LONG time and come back and pick up right where we left off. I would rather be in Disney World than watching soaps on TV.

I have a TiVo, so it tapes all my shows for me while I'm gone. I do miss them occasionally though. :o On nights when I'm tired at WDW, I will sometimes go back to my room and watch a favorite show of mine if it's on.

My favorite show is always on reruns-I Love Lucy.;) I don't miss any shows when I'm on vacation. My dd worries about a couple of them though.

To be honest, I absolutely love not turning on the TV or picking up a newspaper while I am at WDW. I can't tell you how much I enjoy tuning all that out and just being a kid again with no cares or worries for a few days! :)

I thought i was the only one who worried about missing my soap!
I watch One life to Live but i can take it or leave it. So i don't worry about taping this one at all. BUT General Hospital i can not live without! Sometimes i am able to catch it in the room because while my son is napping and everyone else is at the pool i can time it just right. That can't be counted on though so this is my plan and it worked well the last 2 trips we took.

We are usually gone 8-10 days but last summer we were gone for 2 full weeks. So.....
I set the vcr to tape my soap for the 1st week mon-fri. and then also the following mondays episode as well. So i have a 6 hour tape and it is full of 6 days of shows. Then i did nothing for the tues. - friday shows on that 2nd week and when we arrived home on the weekend i just put in a new tape and taped the GH marathon that they have every weekend on soap net! (which is the greatest invention since TV! IMO) Then i have alot of shows to watch before i can tune back in on my 1st monday at home! However if i have caught any shows while gone i can skip those and i can always fast forward through the boring parts. The kids usually go straight to grandma and grandpas to see them when we get home and i just get the washer and dryer going and run back and forth.

buy a 160 or 180 tape. check to see recording time on slowest mode then record last 45 minutes each day, the first 15 is mostly a recap of the day before anyway isn't it..??

When I'm on vacation, the only thing I watch is the weather channel. I don't think about TV until I'm home, and then I feel really out of touch.

just added Whose Line to my list(good thing for reruns on cable:) )

The only thing I miss is hockey & usually they only carry one ESPN, so they aren't always showing a game. :(

I'm a Weather Channel person too...gotta know if I need to pack my poncho every day. I watch Headline News before going to bed just to make sure that the world hasn't collapsed. Other than that, it's the zipadeedoodah, tip for today guy for the whole trip!

I don't have any shows I watch regularly, so I have nothing to miss.

I was there last week and it was a really bad week for missing TV, being the end of the season. I set both VCRs for as much as I could fit on them, but my cable went out when I was gone and I got NOTHING. Luckily I went back to my room for the Survivor finale since I didn’t want to chance missing that. I’m such a loser!
