I remember when the Disney channel first started. They played all the good 'ole cartoons. I know that they have House of Mouse now, but I miss the classics. I have even bought the videos with the classic cartoons (it's all I have left! :happytv: ) Anyone want them to bring them back, besides me?

We have told our children that, as each grandchild turns 5 we will take him or her to WDW. Number two is scheduled for this coming Feb. What a shock it was to find out that he had had no idea who Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy etc. were. This past week I went to the store and bought a bunch of Disney DVDs with the old cartoons for the kids to watch. Can you wear our a DVD? If so, these are doomed. I couldn't believe that the kids could get so excited about the same cartoons that I loved when I was their age. You can bet that Number Two will know all of his characters when he gets there in about five months.

Yes, I definitely miss the old cartoons. I actually think about that alot when my daughter watches disney. I do love it when at halloween time she watches Mickey's House of Villains because it has an old ghost cartoon. For some reason though, I always remember an old Mickey cartoon where he is going on vacation, towing a little camper. And definitely the Chip and Dale cartoons! Do you remember?

I do remember the camper cartoon. My favorite was the Donald Duck cartoons, especially the one where is gets tangled up in the lawn chair. :lmao:

I love - and I mean LOVE - the old cartoons with Humphrey the Bear and Donald. :happytv: But in the mean time, House of Mouse is better than nothing!

Please don't hate me, but House of Mouse really annoys me. I mean I love the OLD cartoons. My girls like to watch H of M sometimes. I guess the thing that bugs me is Mickey computerized and not drawn out and the little cutesy things that didn't quite make it... "We've got ears, say cheers." Bring back the cartoons! :thumbsup2

H of M is better than nothing. Too bad they stopped making new episodes a few years back. At least the main focus was on the origional characters. Over the last few years DH and I have bought a bunch of the classic cartoons for our DD to enjoy as much as we did growing up. Something wonderful is that she recognizes and gets excited about the classic characters and could virtually careless about the more modern characters/face character.

PS. for any of you wo are traveling to WDW, punch in channel 96 on your in room tv and you cna watch the classic cartoons. They're unlisted these days but a great treat none the less.

OH! I'm getting H of M mixed up with that new preschool show... Mickey's clubhouse or something. Yes, I agree House of Mouse is better than nothing, but it's still not as good as the old cartoons. Whatever the preschool show is called, I think they were trying to copy the format of Dora and Blue's Clues and it came across as too gimicky/corny and not as creative as you'd expect of Disney. I taped a House of Mouse on our DVR. I'll have to see how my dds like it.

Nope. Don't miss 'em at all. We have an ungodly number of DVDs. The big volumes they set out and the smaller individual ones of the classic cartoons. I think we're starting on Disney Pal's (Mickey & Pluto, Mickey & Minnie, Donald & Daisy) right now. This is in addition to all those feature films (Toy Story, Bambi, Snow White, etc, etc). Disney's home entertainment division must love me.

BTW--DO sign up for the replacement dvd program. Just had to send two in. $6.95 each, but it beats re-paying $20 for one & the other isn't even sold anymore.

I really miss the classics - We have all the H of M (and MM Clubhouse, which I don't like as much, but you have to take what you can get) on our DVR. I'm just glad that they still sell some of the old cartoons on DVD.
Quite frankly, I am a bit suspicious of parents whose children don't know the Disney characters.

Thank Heaven I was forward-thinking enough years ago to tape a bunch of vintage Disney animation off of the old "Vault Disney" show that used to run on the Disney channel after midnight (before Disney cancelled it, so they could instead show re-runs of "That's so Raven" for all the 10 years olds who are up at that hour on weeknights :rolleyes1 )

My kids love watching those tapes, and as consequence have a true appreciation of things like Donald Duck being the classic fall guy, one I sense their peers don't. They also -- unlike most kids -- know who the big, nasty character in my sig below is!!!!
