I don't mind if someone is sincere. However, in my situation it was obvious to us that the wait staff were instructed to call all men "sir" and all women "dear." I'd rather in that case that they just said, "Here's your soup." No dear needed.

I also can't stand the Miss Gail, Miss any first name thing....my friend has her daughter call me miss gail and I can't stand it...I prefer to be called gail..thats my name, please use it without adding any cutesy miss or anything in front of it!
