"Do You Mind?" - Disney Adventures with Teens August Trip Report

We have two dinners that are "business casual" attire. Do you know what this means for men? Can they wear like a polo shirt and shorts? If so, can they wear flip flops?

I usually wear polo shirts and nice shorts and moccasins. like boat deck shoes.

Thanks Scott! Chris has decided to wear jeans and bring one pair of dressy shoes. That little panic attack is now over :)

Here's what I've done tonight:

- scanned all of my IDs, credit cards, insurance cards, AAA, etc., front and back. Stored on my computer so that if one or more are lost or stolen, I will be able to call and report right away.
- scanned all of Mom's IDs, credit cards, insurance cards, AAA, AARP, etc. Same as above.
- Sorted clothes for packing. Took inventory. Placed items in various stacks (did not pack).
- Cleared items off the to do list that have been done.
- filled out the Disneyworld/AAA luggage tags with each traveler's name, phone number, and Beach Club Resort. I did not put our home address on there. These will be placed inside luggage.

Other than that, I:
- paid some bills
- went through the mail
- visited my brother-in-law at my sister's new home/Mom's house
- visited with Katie - asked her when she plans to pack. She says she doesn't know. :confused3
- did LOTS of laundry and put it away
- drank a glass of wine (THAT's what got me through this evening!)

When I was packing I had to be very very organized.

First, I pulled out what I plan to wear tomorrow to work. That is in its own little pile, right down to the socks, shoes and underwear.

Next, I pulled out what I plan to wear in the truck on the drive on Friday, and to birthday dinner with my step-mother Friday night. Another nice little pile, right down to the underwear (no socks - going with flip/flops).

Next, I pulled out what I plan to wear for travel day on the plane for Saturday. This was a little tricky because I needed to know what I would need to have with me, figuring that ME will not deliver our luggage until after dinner. So we are wearing "business casual" on the plane. I don't think we'll pack swimsuits in our carryons. I figure that exploring the resort and the Boardwalk will keep us busy. If we are bored after dinner and still don't have luggage, we can hit Epcot WS.

I took some pics as I was packing.

This is the outfit I bought at Old Navy in San Francisco last week. I couldn't pass it up!!

This is a shirt that Mom found at Wal Mart. I think it's cute.

Here's the small backpack that I will carry to the parks. I carried this to shore excursions on last year's cruise. It is just the right size.

I forgot to take a picture of my beach bag to take to the water parks and the pool. Maybe you'll see it in the TR.

Finally, here is Mom's birthday gift from Joann. It's the Baggalini bag. Much classier than a fanny pack.

Tomorrow will be a bigger day/night of planning. I have to get to work, get it done, and get out of there so I can finish packing. Hopefully we can relax and watch the So You Think You Can Dance finale before we leave. :thumbsup2

You were busy last night.

Cute outfit from Old Navy. And the Micky t-shirt is adorable! I love your backpack and your mom's baggalini. They are the perfect size!

1 day until you leave for Memphis!!1
2 days until Disney!!!!

I love Susan's new ON outfit. I would LOVE:love: LOVE:love: LOVE to be able to wear sleeveless tops in WDW but I'm afraid that with my flabby upper arms some castmember would put me on the Dumbo ride (and I'm not talking ...... as a passenger!)

I found the Mickey shirt on a clearance rack for $5. It was the only one and in just the right size. Can we say "fate"?

 LOVE my bd gift. I'll probably wear it completely out in WDW. I'm going to pack it today.

I don't have Sunday's forecast yet for our drive back to Austin. Not too worried about that one.

You ask: Are you worried about the rain?
I answer: Only witches melt.

Wow I absolutely love, love the brown tank and shorts outfit! You are going to look so good on the plane!

The weather actually looks terrific for August!! That's only a slight bit higher than we were in May. I always thought August was more hot (like upper 90s) so maybe a 'cool' spell has hit?

That Mickey top is adorable!

I wish you the absolute best of time -- need to go back and look at your schedule again! I'll be living it on-line while you are there!

At the request of Susan, this notice alerts you that the shipment listed below has been delivered.

Good heavens, I am SUCH a slacker. :lmao:

The weather for next week looks great. The rain doesn't scare me either :thumbsup2

Yay your ship ahead box arrived

Sometimes the Mom in Me comes out.

I have been collecting items for several months for this trip. Some of them, I have kept as a surprise for the girls.

Tonight, I will reveal them to you. I doubt the girls will read this thread tonight, so there is very little risk of spoiling the surprise.

I have packed these items in a gift bag to go in the truck for the drive tomorrow.

Disney invisible ink activity books:

Disney princess play putty:

Mad Libs (awesome for road trips!):

Invisible ink game book to share:

Katie found this book the other night and I told her she has to leave it alone - it's a surprise. She obliged. But she loves these books!

Cool! That should all make the drive go by faster!

Where did you find the Princess and POTC goody bags? Do you happen to remember?

Those were either at Party City or Wal Mart in the party supplies aisle. You know the one where they have little packages of 6 or 8 each of themed items? I really think it was Party City, the more I think about it.

Good to know -- I may have to visit a nearby Party City soon -- it's never too early to start filling the trip drawer!

I can't believe you are leaving tomorrow! Is everyone super excited?

I am really struggling with this binder. It is HUGE. I don't want to carry all this weight in my backpack on the plane. I also plan to that the UG and Passporter, plus my Chelsea Handler book, camera, cell phone, etc, so this is getting heavy.

I am thinking about taking out certain pages of the binder that we will need that night and leaving the rest in the checked suitcase. I'm also going to take some items out here at the house and leave them at home.

Any other thoughts?
