"Do You Mind?" - Disney Adventures with Teens August Trip Report

There used to be jitterbug/swing/ballroom dancing at Atlantic Dance Hall, from what I have read. The ballroom dancers in Orlando loved it (hard to find venues for this type of dance). But now apparently it's all Top 40.

I think that the population in general is moving more toward the mature lounge type of environment. Good music, but not loud. Not ALL dancing, but an opportunity to dance. Like Vegas Ultra-lounges.

Really, the dance clubs are geared mostly toward early 20's people, and I doubt they will spend their evenings on WDW property. So that's my theory about why PI is closing. For whatever it's worth.

Rix in CSR is supposedly modeled after a Vegas lounge. It makes sense, since that is the one big convention resort. I would imagine they need something like that to keep business travelers on property. We might try it. I am just not sure about taking Disney transportation all the way over there only to find out it's dead.

I doubt I'll be clubbing in WDW.

We are doing BD/Fantasmic on the 12th. It is a very EARLY reservation. Why do they do that? If I remember, yours is not that day. None of our ADRs overlap.

When do you leave for California?

I have a local conference from sun-up to way past sundown Monday and Tuesday, then I leave Wednesday for SF.

I think I will find a little time to DIS on Monday and Wednesday, and maybe Thursday morning. But after that, I'm pretty much out until the 4th.

That's a must. I wonder what we should see? She has already seen RENT. Also, we will be seeing Rent, Avenue Q, Spamalot and Wicked here in Austin when Broadway Across America comes next year. We already have our season passes. awesome seats! 2nd row 1st balcony, center.

The weather in Lake Buena Vista has been in the high 80's/low 90's for the past week a little bit of rain almost every day. I am assuming that is like the tropics - afternoon scattered showers.

Next week is forecast in the high 80's with a 40-60% chance of scattered thunderstorms each day.

Looks like the August week we will be there historically averages 92*. That is not as hot as it is here. Not at all.
