I think we may go with the dining plan but have not added it on yet (we're DVC members). I can start making ADRs this week for our August trip. Can I make my ADRs now or do I need some type of confirmation that we'll be on the dining plan (even though I haven't called yet, I really have to get on that!).

Specifically I'm wondering about HDDR. Do you need to tell them whether you're on the Dining Plan or not?

Thanks!!:thumbsup2

When I made my ADRs I had a room only res. and hadnt committed 100% to the package yet (I have now) the CM did ask me about the DDP, and I told her the truth, that I wasnt certain yet. She helped me make all of my ADRs w no problem. After the first days ADR (180 days out) she did ask me for my resort reservation #, before we continued :thumbsup2

This question comes up often, but we have to keep in mind that ADRs are just dinner reservations.

They have nothing at all to do with where you're staying...or how you're paying for the meal. In fact, many Orlando area residents eat at Epcot restaurants and they make ADRs just like we do. People who stay offsite also make ADRs.

The only thing that makes any difference staying onsite is you get the 180+10 booking (a negligible benefit, IMHO), instead of just 180. And you get that whether you're paying cash or are on DDP.

Thanks to both of you for your replies.

Now with HDDR I read that you must pay for this when you book it. So what happens if I'm not on the dining plan yet?

if we are staying on site, we can book ADRs 190 days?

Not quite, at 180 days from your first day you may book for up to 10 reservation days following. Hopefully that wasn't more confusing! So if April 1st is your 180 day and you're staying on site you may book up to April 10th.

If you don't have the DDP added yet, you will have to pay for HDDR at time of booking. I have heard that you can call back once you book DDP and have your credit card refunded (they will keep the number on file in case you don't show).
