I'n not talking about smoking/non-smoking, but water view, close to elevator, etc. Thanks...I have never made any requests(except medical non-smoking)...but wondering if I should.

When I booked our trip for Oct. '06, requesting non-smoking; the res. asked whether I had any other requests. (Didn't know you could request a view - duhhhh LOL). Res. said most members make so many specific requests, they can't fit them in the res. notes.:)

Of course, I've never got any special requests I've made @ WDW, so it'll be a bonus. Still new enough to be thrilled just to belong.

I tend to make requests for non-smoking and "high up as possible".

I make non-smoking only. Have always gotten it.

(Could it be that it's easier to meet my one request?)

I was once checking in next to a man at OKW who had made about 10 requests and was threatening to SUE if he didn't get what he wanted.. (IDIOT!)

I don't think I could ever be a cast member at WDW. There's no way I could remain professional and courteous when confronted with someone that stupid.

I make a non-smoking request on the ressie. Prior to being assigned a room at check-in I tell the CM what room locations we prefer, (pretty much anywhere except Miller's road or an area with a bus turnaround) and ask if it is available. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.

Usually, all we request is nonsmoking and non H/A because of the kids (need a tub to bathe them in and afraid that my three year old would pull everything off lowered countertops  )

Other than that, we are just super happy to be "Home" :goodvibes

OK, I've only been twice since I bought, but I request non-smoking. The first time I stayed at SSR, the gentleman at MS INSISTED that he had to put a request on my reservation for CP, fireworks view. He was very sweet, but I was a little surprised.... maybe he just wanted me to enjoy the resort, but if he puts that on every reservation, it's going to get a little crowded in CP! :rotfl:

At OKW, I had non-smoking and the CM at check in pulled out a map and offered several choices.

I figure that I have about 40 more years to visit WDW, and if I don't get the best room/view each time, I will get it eventually.

If I do ever travel with older relatives, however, I may put on a few requests such as 'near elevator' etc if applicable.

When we had our GG last year, the CM asked if we would like to add a request that the rooms be close to each other, and sure enough, we were very convenient to each other. That was 5 villas.

When I booked 2 rooms for F&W, I never mentioned to be close to each other, and they weren't. We have 3 studios coming up at VWL and I hadn't remember to ask if we can be close together, I wonder if it's too late to call, we're getting there on Saturday.

So far, the only request I've made besides non-smoking is to get an upper floor at HHI because I heard from someone that at HHI, if you're on a lower floor, you can sometimes hear noise from the people above. I figured if this request were granted, it would be a win-win for both my party and the people below me. I won't have any kids with me, so if I'm on the top floor, the people below me won't have to hear kids stomping around above them, and I won't have to hear kids stomping around above me. But if they're not able to grant this request, I won't be upset. I know I'm going to have a great time wherever I stay.

With all resorts except for SSR, I make a request for NON-Smoking.

At SSR, I request for NON-Smoking and Congress Park. If I get it met, great!

The only request I make other than non-smoking is upper floor. I don't care for ground floor rooms.

I always request N/S, and will also request certain areas or views. Hey, someone has to get the rooms with desireable views, so I might as well take a shot. It doesn't hurt to ask. But the N/S is the important request. If the view doesn't come through, it's not a big deal.

My standard requests:

  • non smoking
  • non handicapped
  • water side of the resort

These are my three most important, and I feel they are reasonable.
It would be nice if DVC had some sort of preference file, so you didn't have to repeat these at every reservation. :drinking:

I voted no because I interpreted the question as a request made at the time you call.

I don't make any requests beyond non-smoking when I make my reservation. Then when I check in I'm ready to ask the CM for a higher floor and that's about it. This seems to work better than an extensive list.

Our first couple yrs we were requesting BW view and then Epcot view (at BCV). They have since made BW view a reservation so I don't have to worry about that anymore and we had two GREAT views of Spaceship Earth two differnent years in a row, so the last two yrs I did not request anything except for non-smoking for medical reasons because I figured we had gotten the GREAT view twice, now I will just take what we get!

We got pool view at BCV the last two years (with no view reqest) and I have loved watching the ducks and the chicks(in May) waddle around and swim in the pool just as much as I enjoyed the Spaceship Earth views. :flower:

The two reservations I have for 2006 (BWV standard 1br in Jan and BCV studio in May) only have non-smoking for medical reasons as requests. I have considered calling and adding AWAY from elevators for BWV as I prefer to walk most or all of the long halls since there is typically less traffic but have not done that!

My only request is non-smoking now. I used to request upper level but after a couple of stays where I got great room locations that did not meet my preconceived ideas about where a great location would be, I just leave it open to chance. One trip we had a ground floor room (standard view BWV) way down the halls. At first I was not thrilled with the location....after a day of two realized that 2 doors away was a exit door to the quiet pool on one side and the other side an exit to walk out to either self parking or a short walk to the entrance, and we were halfway to MGM!!! It was a great location. Another trip I had the first room on the right overlooking the courtyard, one flight up the stairs....first door!!! No waiting for the elevators!! I remember when I opened the door to that room how pristine the room condition was....attending Mousefest last year....and had the studio to myself!! Absolutely heavenly....one night listened to the Christmas carolers from my balcony....room service for one!!! I went with a friend but she smokes so we had separate rooms...it felt soooo decadent. ::MinnieMo

I don't make requests, but the MS CM's do for me. In booking our first trip to VWL this coming March, the CM said, "let's see, you'll want non-smoking, higher floor, etc..." He knew I had never stayed there so those were all his suggestions.

For our trip week after next, I even forgot to ask for non-smoking. I was just surprise there was availability with such short notice, less than 3 weeks. I called back the next day and the CM quoted all our usual requests - non-smoking, Turtle Pond or South Point. She didn't have the kids names, but she had all that. Go figure!
