Do you make Easter baskets for your teenagers?

Yep. Our 17 year old daughter still gets to enjoy an Easter basket since her 8 year old brother gets one. The basket just gets the candy and other gifts are wrapped separately.

For my teens, I normally do an easter gift bag of sorts. The girls get a bag of their favorite candy and a gift card and the boys also get a favorite candy and a movie, game or gift card depending on what they have been talking about when they thought noone was listening.

I miss the Easter basket days!

I do.
Matter of fact, last year, he went, with his aunt, out of town to his grandfather's for Easter. On the sly, I gave her the items to put the basket together. So, Easter morning she called me to let me know what happened. After he went to bed Saturday night, she put the basket together and put it in the den. When he came down for breakfast and Church on Sunday, he was a little bummed. But as soon as she mentioned the basket in the den, he perked right up. I guess he really looks forward to it.

I put candy, of course. And some stupid little kiddie toys in there - like a battery operated chick that chirps when you hold it in the palm of your hand. Maybe a deck of cards. Maybe a container of bubbles. Maybe a kite. I'll add a toothbrush, toothpaste, body wash, shampoo, etc. I might only put just ONE thing of real value in there like a PS game, a DVD, a CD that he's been asking for or a gift card to iTunes or Napster. This year I may add a box of golf balls. Or a water toy since we just moved by a lake.

HTH.

Yep. Candy, DVDs, maybe a gift card for Target or something. I even still hide the basket - she seems to think it's dorky, but I think she secretly enjoys it.;)

I'm 18 and I wish we still did Easter baskets. Generally my mom hands each of us 5 bucks and says "Go get some Easter candy on clearance." :rotfl:

Yep, little bit of candy in each along with a movie or cd. My kids have grown out of putting disney dollars in plastic eggs though...:sad1: I also put gift cards for a meal at their favorite restaurant.

Thanks for your ideas everyone. :thumbsup2

I'll most likely do the candy and small present.

I do miss the days of making baskets filled with Spring/Easter toys and candies.

This year I am done...:sad1: My girls are 10 & 15.

They did ask if I was going to make them one....I asked them if they would go to church.

They said no, so I said no.:lmao:

I don't have teens yet, but I am planning on doing it for them--my Mom made me one until she died--and I was 32! LOL

Oh heck yeah! My kids would feel completely shunned if I stopped making them Easter baskets, LOL. I get them more tangible items now, like GG mentioned....but some candy too. They absolutely love it and still search for them (20, 17 and 13)

Yes, and my 2 DS's that are 20 plus get them, too. They get gum, toothbrush, toothpaste, bags of their favorite cookies, a gas card, maybe a tee shirt. Stuff like that.

That's sad. I say, skip the church requirement, make the baskets and hide some eggs. They're not too big to love an EAster Basket:hippie:

That is very sad. My DD just turned 10 last week and she still pretends to believe in the bunny. Do your kids go to church every sunday? Mine never had an option. I agree that they should get a basket. Your never too old to feel special with a holiday tradition.

My parents still make me one, and I am 19 and a sophomore in college. I don't think they will ever stop, :lmao:.

We do not go to church anymore.

So that begs the question do you still do the baskets and Christmas even though it has no connection to Jesus or God?

That is my quandry.

I agree, your never to old for an Easter Basket, even a small one.....

If you wanted to do something a little different:

If you get an inexpensive terracotta pot and a tree shaped styrofoam (both at the craft store) and some candy ( my son LOVES rootbeer barrels) you hot glue the candy (wrapper) starting from the bottom, round and round up until you reach the top of the styrofoam. I found these adorable chocolate foiled ladybugs and bees and hot glued them on. Since I did this for St Patricks day, I painted the pot green, painted some shamrocks on it and added a funny little saying on the pot. He got a kick out of it and grabs candy off the "tree" each time he's out the door.
You could certainly skip the painting, buts its fast with a small sponge paint brush. I hotglued inside the pot and the cone shape fit right in and adhered to the glue. You use a small amount of the hot glue as to not melt the styrofoam.
I saw this on Martha Stewart recently, you can use mixed candies, chocolate or perhaps your kids FAVORITE childhood candy.
Perhaps a "family" tree with everyones favorites rather than individual baskets?

Either way, enjoy your Easter!

My son doesn't like chocolate and only very rarely eats sweets so I won't make him one. I'll get him something though, I just haven't decide what yet.

Yep. So far this year I've got a study bible and a bracelet to put in it. I'll get some of his favorite gum, candy, and maybe a cd or a i-tunes gift card.
