Okay, we're staying POR Sept 23-29.. I've booked, canceled, and made new ressies as we had plan changes thanks to tourguidemike....

Would you make ADR for POR for 2 up in the air days for supper? Do you think we're ok to just walk up? With all the hype of Free Dining and must have ADR... I'm having trouble finding flexibility with our trip. Our meals have us nailed down to parks for each day, but ONE.... on that ONE day, will I be up a creek NOT having an ADR somewhere?

Does that make sense?

If you don't mind taking the chance that you will be stuck with CS if all TS is booked, you might try to call Disney Dining the day before or the morning of your dinner. Lots of plans get changed at the last minute, and we often find openings at the moderate TS locations on short notice during FD.

Even though we have all our ADR's made during FD, we can't know ahead of time that the weather will be really bad (we watch the theme park forecast on the Weather Channel every morning at our resort) or that we are just too tired that day to stay in the parks late, so we cancel the in park dinner ADR and make one for the TS at our moderate resort in the morning. Having a last minute ADR would at least mean no long wait for a walk-up slot.

You only have three choices at the moderates for a table service:
Maya Grill at Coronado, Shutters at CBR and Boatwright's at POR-Riverside.

For some reason, Shutters has been booked solid (and people report the food is awful :confused3 ) and Maya Grill gets a lot of mixed reviews. We did Boatwright's two years ago on the dining plan; first, we had a 5:30 p.m. reservation and were not seated until AFTER 6:15. The host was rude; the service was non-existent, it was very loud in there being that the food court is on one side of the restaurant and the piano guy on the other side (we couldn't hear ourselves talk to each other across the table) and the food was awful. DH had the filet and I had the prime rib; both came with the three-cheese hash brown potatos. DH's filet was 1/2 fat; my prime rib was sent back twice because it was cooked no where near the way I ordered it and the potatos were awful.

If I were you, I'd just keep trying until something else opened up.
