Oh, boy, we had some fun at the grocery store last weekend. DH is almost 11 years older than me--he's almost 54, I just turned 43. He's had white hair since he was in his 20's--all the men in his family do. Aside from that, I don't think he looks old at all.

I, on the other hand, tend to look quite young for my age. We were at the grocery store and I guess I made it worse because I was wearing a Donald Duck t-shirt and shorts and minimal makeup. :teeth:

DH rarely accompanies me to the grocery store but decided to come along. Now I'm pretty sure he'll never go with me again. :lmao: He was unloading the cart while I was heading up toward the cashier to pay. She looked at me, then sort of called down the conveyor belt to DH--"Sir, do you want paper or plastic?" I was a bit surprised--DH was nonplussed. He had no clue and looked at me. I said, "Plastic, please." The cashier then looked at me and said in a voice usually reserved for a 4 yo, "Wow, he sure looks mad." Took me a minute to realize she was referring to my Donald Duck t-shirt. :teeth: Umm, yeah, I guess he does. I seriously had no clue what was going on with this woman.

Then, we're checking out, I'm giving her bottle return slips, coupons, writing the check. Dh finishes unloading and comes up to stand beside me. I told him, "Thank you, I may start bringing you along every week to do the heavy lifting for me." The cashier then pipes up, "Yep, it's nice to have your dad help you do stuff." :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We get this occasionally--DH thinks it's funny that people sometimes think he's my dad or that he is dd's grandfather. Thank heavens he has a sense of humor about it. :lmao:

So, has anyone ever thought your spouse was your parent? Or, heaven forbid, the other way around?

I look older than my DH.

I'm 39 and he's 34. My hair is graying -- I'm not too good about keeping up with the coloring. Nobody has mistaken us for mother/son recently, but there was this one time... OMG. I was 27 & DH and I were at the grocery store. I worked at a college bookstore, and one of the professors from the college ran into us in the parking lot and asked me, "Oh, is this your son?" Granted, this woman was really out there  but I was still pretty shocked.

The other way around....when I was a teen we were checking to what was then The Disney Inn (now Shades of Green). My mom and the other two kids stayed in the room and my dad and I rode on the golf cart with the luggage guy to the car to get our bags...luggage guy, being friendly, says, "So, you guys on your honeymoon?"

Ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, and did I say ew???

20 years later and I still have the heebie jeebs.

Ew, ew, ew...

:rotfl2: That is pretty icky.

I haven't had any experiences like the PP's, but people guess that my DH is in his 50's (salt & pepper hair, overweight, glasses) and I got carded at the grocery store trying to buy wine coolers and out with my friends for drinks on my 40th birthday (last October) for not looking 30.

Although when we flew home from our Pittsburgh trip on Wednesday, the flight attendent was looking for open seats on our oversold flight and asked my DH if "the girl" in the bathroom was sitting in the seat next to him. :confused3

For the record: he'll be 45 on July 16th, I'm holding tight to 40 until Oct. 11th ;)

Ugh, I'm traumatized just remembering it. :crazy2:

I said, "He's my DAD!!!"

Dad looked pretty horrified too. Luggage guy just shrugged and threw our bags on the cart.

This definitely doesn't happen to us. Hubby and I are both in our 30's, but people always guess that we're in our 20's.

I look much younger than DH. We are both 31, but people swear that he's like 43, 44. I on the other hand have been told that I was his daughter or sister. Last CHristmas in DIsney, lady gave me stickers with my two kids. Told me to go home and enjoy it. Boy did we crack up later. I told DH that he had better pay, cause someone as young as I couldn't! :lmao:

I'm 44 and DH is 41, but I look younger (usually taken for 30) and he looks much older (what little hair is left is going gray). He looks his age in a baseball cap.

I'm 44 and dh is 40. I look right about my age. Dh looks very young. He's very thin, so he looks like a boy. The guys at work call him "kid" sometimes as a joke, even though many of them are younger than him.

We haven't really had anyone say anything, but I've had waitresses give me the bill - which I assume means they think I'm his mother.

I'm 11 years older than my DH but I don't think I look it cause people always seem surprised when they hear it

DH is three years older than I am, but people always think I'm 10-15 years younger! :lmao:

I'm 9 years old than my SO but since he's prematurely grey he looks older. If he wears a hat he looks like a kid, though, so I demand that he keeps it off! :p

Since I'm 4'11 and have dimples NO ONE guesses my age, been fooling folks all my life!

He's 41 and I'm 50!

My DH looks slightly older than me but I am actually 1 year older than him

DH is 6 1/2 months older than me and I think we look about the same age. He is just starting to get some stray gray hairs and I will not know when I am starting to go gray since I (ahem!) enhance my natural color a bit ;) so I suspect eventually he'll look older.

He's still pretty darn cute though...

DH is 10 yrs older than me , he has ALOT of gray hair, when DD was little we went out to eat and the waiter was talking to her about her grandpa..DD got all excited that grandpa was there, but i had to tell the waiter that was her daddy :rotfl2:

my dh is almost 3 years younger than me. and he has a baby face. we've been out to dinner and ordered drinks, he'll get asked for ID and i don't! :sad2: which will definately decrease the servers tip!
i force him to wear a moustache and goaee so he doesn't look 12!
