Do you look at other's ATM receipts left by the machine to see the balances??

Come on, admit it. You do!

Sometimes I go holy crap! That covers really low balances and really high balances!

No. I do use ATMs now & then...but never look at other people's balances...sometimes I don't even look at mine because so often I know it's not showing the right amount. One time it said it had about $5000.00 too much in there. I felt like going out & buying some nice gift for myself!!

No, but I never really thought to do it probably because I worked 7+ yrs in a bank branch saw LOTS of balances. And I usually go to the drive thru ATM & there aren't anyones receipts around to look at.

But, I think I will now just for the heck of it. hehe

Yes!

Well, only at the ATM in the building where I work. Lots of financial experts in the building. I've seen checking balances around $80,000. I can't figure out if they really aren't the financial gurus they claim to be since they should have that money in a high interest account, or if that's to cover their mortgage payment. :confused3
And I know I'm not the only one who looks at work because it often comes up as a topic at the lunch table. :)

Yep, then I go home and cry.

I found one once sticking out of the drive up ATM that showed a $400.000 plus balance!

Who keeps that kind of money in a checking account :confused3 ?

I'm assuming you meant $400,000+ ???

It could be someone that recently sold their house and is waiting to close on another one.

Ok, Shutterbug, what do you do for a living, so I can get into it too? :lmao: *sigh* Being a student should pay...

I am going to have to use the ATM machine more for entertainment purposes. :rotfl:

Seriously, I rarely use the ATM machine, and when I do, I never see receipts laying around. (I take out a lump sum of cash once a week when I go to the bank to deposit DH's paycheck).

I've only seen another slip laying around once and the balance was way less then mine so I felt good.

Yeah I look. I work in the grocery store and we always have slips laying around. I am just too nosy not to peek. I also double check all the scratch off lottery tickets left laying around. I have actually found a few winners over the years.

No, I work at a bank and balance the general ledger for the ATM so it's not a treat for me, only more work.

I just find the nearest trash can and dispose it.

DH went to the drive up ATM one day after work and there was a slip in there, which he just grabbed and tossed on my seat (which is what he does with his...I am the "filer"). I got in the truck that night, picked them up and almost fainted. The second one was for $937,000. I was stunned. I had to check the account number, at first I thought the bank (or my DH) had screwed up our account. :rotfl:

Wasn't ours. So I ripped it into teeny pieces and tossed it.

I once received our bank statement with someone else's STUCK TO THE BACK OF IT. :furious: I called the bank and had a hissy. Wasn't my statement, but it could have been. I shredded that for the poor people whose financial information was leaked. Luckily, we are not ones who would ever try to steal from someone, but what if we were?? Cripes. That really bothered me. Still does.
