Do you live in the city, the suburbs, or the country? If there were no obstacles to prevent you from living wherever you wanted, would you make the same, or a different choice?

I live where I live because of money and convenience. I'd love a bigger house, and a bigger yard somewhere else. I don't exactly live in the subburbs, and not downtown either. I'm not sure what to call it.

I live in a town. Its too small to be a city, too far to be a suburb, and too big to be the country! People that don't live here really bad mouth our town, and I admit it has some problems, but its home to us and I really like it here! I just wish my house was bigger and newer, but I like the area that I live in and after 26 years, I don't see moving in the near future.

I live in the city, have always lived in the city, and unless I win the Lotto which would afford me a home on the beach, I'll probably always live in the city. I think I'd go stir crazy in the country, and the suburbs aren't for me. I like to be able to walk wherever I need to go.

at the moment I live in the suburbs. I think it's a great place to raise children.

I am a single mother. my kids are in their teens now. what I envision for myself is that when my younger dd goes to college in 6 years I will likely move back to the city.

Suburbs -- we built this house in the city we wanted to be in, so yeah, we like where we are. :)

Technically I live in a city, but the city I live in is a suburb of the city of Columbus. So even though I live in something that due to size is a city itself, it really is suburbian life here.

If I could choose, I would transplant this city down to the gulf coast somewhere and live. I like the 'burbs but I would love to be close to the ocean :teeth:

I live in a village in the mountains. It's beautiful and unpopulated and I love it.

I live in the 11th largest city in the U.S. I've lived here my whole life. I always want to live in the city, but wouldn't mind a smaller city, say, Orlando. ;)

well if you consider Boise a ctiy then we live in the suburbs of a city LOL.

We are close to most things ( almost everything in town is within a 15 minute drive) and we really like the location.

We live in a suburb just North of Chicago and really like it here. Someday maybe move to Florida, but really we are quite happy here.

I live in a very small town. Two hours from everything is a bit too far.

It has it's advantages.... but the main thing that keeps us here is the family business and the new home we built.

I would like to live somewhere with better schools so I did not have a full time job making sure my kids get the education they need.

I live in the country....about 7 miles from our small town.
We chose it, so we like it.

We live in a very crowded large suburb. I like it because the neighborhood is good for raising kids, the schools are good and we're close to everything you could ever need.

That said, as soon as humanly possible, we are out of here to escape to a place where snow is unheard of.:p And city, suburb, country, whatever, I don't care, as long as there's NO SNOW.:D

I live in the suburbs of St. Louis. I like it. It's great for raising kids. If I didn't have kids, I would like to live in the city, like Chicago.

It used to be a suburb of Chicago (still technically is) but things sort of run together here (as I think they do today in my megalopolis environments) for probably a hundred miles in any direction. It seems suburban I guess, not like downtown . We have been here our total married lives, 33 years.

I live in a smaller sized city. But I have the best of both worlds.

Our house is on the edge of the city limits. So if I look out my front windows it looks like I live in a suburb or residential area. When I look out my back windows I am looking our over farmer's fields!

Great place to be, beautiful unobstructed sunsets every night!!

I live in a suburb of NYC.
I would never ever want to live in any city-I'm not much of a fan of even visiting. LOL
I *could* live in the country if I was had to, but the pace is much to slow for me plus everything is a drive.
Here where I live each town is about 2 or 3 square miles, so everything is close by.
There are 5 malls within 10 minutes, there are grocery stores and drugstores aplenty, restaurants everywhere, I can't think of a reason to leave the suburbs.

We live near Charlotte, NC. We have lived here for four and a half years. When we moved to our home, I considered it definitely the country! We drove past farm after farm to get to our (rather isolated) subdivision. My DD, who was two at the time, would squeal every time she saw a cow or horse. After about one week of driving past them, she stopped- they became old news! We moved from a close-in suburb of a large Midwestern city.

Now, four and a half years later, I'd say we are firmly suburban. Lots of the farmland is gone or going, we have LOTS more houses around, and at least six grocery store/mini strip malls have gone up within five miles of our house. It is more convenient now, but not as peaceful or picturesque!

Having lived in the city, in the close-in suburbs as well as the more outer suburbs, and the country, I'd say for the most part I prefer the close-in suburbs the best. Pretty and quiet, a good place to raise kids, but close to everything.:wave2:
