I have been to a couple of six flags and King's Island in Ohio. Worlds of Fun in Kansas City a few times as a kid. I loved it as a kid, but....

As an adult they mostly aren't 'worth it.' I'd much rather skip those trips and wait until we can afford the next trip to Orlando...

One notable exception is that I would recommend Holiday World to anyone.

I was just thinking about this because my sister wants to take us to Carowinds and of course we will go for the 'family time' but it just made me wonder if anyone else has a 'notable exception.'

We live close enough for day trips to Dorney Park, Hershey and our hands down favorite- Knoebles!

We have given up on Dorney. It's so crowded. Hershey we like but also way crowded now. Knoebles is just right.

When we still lived in Washington state we visted Silverwood theme park twice. It's located in the Idaho panhandle and is a nice park. It's small but has both the roller coasters and kid rides plus a water park. Since we had two toddlers with us was avoided the water park but spent a lot of time in the childrens area and had a good time. We would definately return if we still lived in the area. Plus it isn't too far from Spokane, so a weekend could be made out of it.

LOVE my local park! Knoebles ROCKS! Gotta love pay as you go, no parking fee, no entry fee, you can take in any food you want they have tables and firepits for you to use FREE if you want to BBQ. Cant beat it and its only 30 min away!

We do World's of Fun in Kansas City. We say to each other at least 10 times each visit.. this sure isn't Disney.

We go about once a year.. the kids enjoy it. But.. It's no Disney.

I live about 55 minutes away from KENNYWOOD and I loved it as a kid and still love it as an adult!!!

I dont like the Six flags great adventure near me in Jackson. Have always had the worst experiences there so we havent been back in years.

I love Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Don't care much for King's Dominion or Carowinds, and haven't been there in years. I really liked Six Flags in Atlanta, but haven't been there since 1997.

I have never met anyone who said that King's Dominion is worth the money, so we have never even bothered going. Even though it's only about 40 minutes away!

We like Busch Gardens Williamsburg ok, we had season passes for a few years so we are a bit sick of it now. It's not like Disneyworld, where you can go year after year and not get sick of it. I am anxious to see the Busch Gardens ChristmasTown, though (this is the first year for it).

Actually I loved Universal when I was there in 2001 but I went back in 07 and hated it. Will probably never be back.

We live about 6 miles from Six Flags New England, but I will always call it Riverside Park. It's o.k. although I haven't been in about 4 years. Not in that much of a hurry to go back.

I love my local theme parks. I have APs to Sea World and Universal Orlando, as well as access to all of the WDW parks.

Great Adventure is a different place than it was a few years ago. New ownership and a whole new attitude. It's really nice now. I was just there last week and they've added more food options(name brands) that are really nice.

I live near Cedar Point which is a great park, especially if you love coasters.

I do find myself comparing it to WDW, and WDW wins hands down for everything except the number of big coasters.

Six Flags Over Texas - Nope. I enjoyed it many years ago, and even had a season pass for a couple of years. But I hope to never have to go back now. I don't like roller coasters that much anymore, and I don't like dirty, either.

I love Disney (Of course!!) Sea World, and Busch Gardens Tampa. Busch Gardens is really good for the big roller coaster factor for me. :thumbsup2

I have the same three kind of near me.

Hershey is my favorite for the rides, (Great Bear is my favorite,) but I love that Knoebles is pay as you go, and they have some classics. I used to be so scared of the Haunted House there. Dorney I haven't been to in awhile.
