Do you like your job?

Right now, I HATE MINE!!! I've been working 10-15 hour days since the week after thanksgiving (minus the week I took off after christmas)...last night I worked until midnight...MIDNIGHT! Tonight, I'm allowed to leave "early"...9 oclock. Gee, thanks. I am eating my dinner now and have a few minutes downtime so I decided to come on the DIS. My saturday afternoon was spent in a dusty closet looking through hundreds of invoices.

Why did I ever pick public accounting as a career???!!!

I just started a new job last week, for the Department of Children's Services. I've not been here long enough to know if I like it or not, I'm still in training right now.

That's exactly why I gave up my accounting career. I want to be with my kids more than use my degree.

I like teaching, and I like the kids. I do not like the stress of the TCAP test scores, and I do not like all the tedious paperwork.

So sorry you are feeling that way. I like my job. I work parttimeat an info desk (I am also a full-time student). My job allows me to do school work and study. It works for me. There are alot of night that I work until midnight or 2 am, but I ok with it for the most part. Other times though I hate my job, for example tommorrow I will leave the house at 7 am togo the lab and then classes and then work until midnight, then I finally go home. By the time I have to go to work I am already tired.

I'm an accountant ..... but not in public accounting. I am the accounting manager for a financial services company and the company's Foundation. Both entities have a December 31 year end so January-March are "audit season" for me. And I prepare the Foundation's tax return. But, once late-May hits things really quiet down and the summers are pretty easy. Once October rolls around we start our budget process and that gets a little crazy.

So, yes I like my job .... most days.

After college one of my interviews was with the audit department of a very large corporation. The travel requirement was insane. Thanks, but no thanks!

Dude, I'm sorry you are not liking your job...it sounds pretty demanding.

As for an answer to your question, I do like my job. A lot. I'm a music teacher and I get to direct the annual musical. This is a TON of fun for me. It's a creative outlet and I just love turning middle school kids into performers.

I hope April gets here soon for the OP.

I'm in the same boat. I just started my job yesterday. So far, I like it ok.

99.8% of the time I love my job - I take care of my friends' 16 mo. old daughter in my home. I've been watching her since she was 5 months old, and she comes over from 8am - 5pm, 5 days a week. I get paid holidays (if my friends get a paid holiday, then they give me a paid holiday), and they are very flexible with giving me vacation time when I need it. The baby girl is very cute and usually very happy, but every so often we have one of those days when she's a great advertisement for birth control...

...those are the days I don't like my job!

I work in a school as well, (think dean), and today I can not express enough how much I don't like some parents. I had a guy get up in my face today screaming at me about his delinquent son that he enables. I finally had to tell him he was not going to talk to me that way and I walked away. That was just the icing on my *great* day.

Believe it or not I do like my job.

I am the one you get transfered to when you ask to speak to a supervisor. I am the one people yell at and call names. Some of the things people tell me to do I really don't think is possible!

Thinking of downsizing to Part-time, just to avoid being there so long. Its only 5 hours-6 hours a week that would be cut, but I would get more rest and time to spend with my Grands.
