Do you like to dance?

Love to dance. I'd love to take lessons someday to learn the more formal dance steps. I can't waltz for instance - I always want to lead!

But when I was a teenager I was out at socials every chance I had to go dancing.

(For those outside the area, a social is like a dance party that you pay to go to. It's usually held at a community center or some such area, and has a DJ. Around 11pm/midnight the organizers would set up a table or two of food - usually rye bread and garlic sausage, at least the ones I was at! Socials are used as fundraisers for almost any occasion, and engaged couples frequently have one around 8 months before the wedding as a way to raise money. Not seen as tacky here - in fact the first question of a newly engaged couple isn't "when's the wedding" it's "when's the social"! I understand it's a pretty regional thing though)

Love it, but don't do it much anymore. My Mom was raised Church of Christ, so although I LOVED dancing, I wasn't allowed. I took classes in college though, mostly modern dance. A few years later, I discovered C&W dancing, and that became my passion. When I started dating DH, we did competition C&W and Swing dancing together, travelling around the country to compete (and did very well!), and after a while to teach and judge. Taught for many years in our city, but had to quit when I developed allergies to cigarettes and perfume. Now DD dances up a storm, but at a dance studio.

At our wedding my grandfather asked me to dance, and led me through a very competant foxtrot. He told me that my grandmother was the best dancer he'd ever seen. Guess that's where I got it!

I do love to dance. But, the bulk of my dancing now is in the kitchen while I'm cooking or whatever. I try to get my son (3) to dance too and it's really funny when he does it. As a parent I don't go out "clubbing" anymore. I don't really miss the whole club scene, but I do miss dancing. I'll just have to wait for my cruise. My husband will dance, but he's terrible and I prefer to dance with my girlfriends. My favorite song lately has been "Let's Get it Started" by the Black Eye Peas---GREAT dance song!!!!

I LOVE TO DANCE!!!! DH never danced with me unless he absolutely had way too much to drink. That was no fun. He just had never danced and didn't know how and had no confidence.

So for years I just danced around the house. On a rarecasion danced with friends if we happen to go out. We didn't get to go out much as we were raising our family

NOW, kids are gone! Told dh you WILL dance with me! We started taking line dance lessons and couples dancing (two-step, waltz, swing, salsa, mambo ect.). Took awhile but he learned. Took even longer for him to build his confidence.

When I hear a song now, I tell him what type dance it will go too. Example "Cha Cha". NOW, has confidence enough to be the first couple on the floor. Next thing we know everyone has joined us and are doing the same dance. A few years ago he would have never been the first one on the dance floor. It even took several years for him to have enough confidence in me, to know, that I knew which dance, went with which song.

We have been on TV dancing several times now. We can dance too any type of music.

He still doesn't like to dance as much I do, as it is my passion! I still take the line dance lessons as you don't need a "partner" to dance. He can't keep up with me through a whole night of dancing so the line dances come in handy. I get up for almost every dance. It gives him a chance to rest between the couple dances.

Last year when our dance instructor moved out of state, I was asked to take over the class. I declined as it just wouldn't be as much fun. It would be more like work. I'm in it for the fun!

I used to dance all the time. Great fun and exercise. DH never fast dances and rarely slow dances.

Now, I dance and sing around the house with dd's. We have a great time!::yes::
