Do You Like To Cook?

I love to cook and bake, and don't even mind cleaning up, when I have the time. What I hate is having to rush through food prep, taking shortcuts, using mixes and convenience foods, because of the time crunch, but that's the reality of most of my days. I had a great time making DH's birthday cake from scratch, though- even the frosting!

I love to cook, our schedules are now in alignment more than they have been in years so I have been cooking a lot more lately.

I enjoy baking for special occasions and when the spirit moves me but I am also not one to measure exactly. I do make a killer key lime pie though.

I enjoy baking better than cooking, but preparing big meals like for holidays like Thanksgiving or Christmas for family are always fun.

I hate it. At my age, you'd think that there are a few dishes that I'd have perfected and enjoy cooking, but nope. I also get frustrated because my mother is an amazing cook, and can whip up awesome meals with whatever she has on hand--I'm not that creative and have to follow recipes. And even then, I'm disappointed in things. Because of that I enjoy eating out, but it does a number on my waistline. And I'm a bit embarrassed that my kids don't eat as healthy as they should be.

Bake once in a while…

Cooking? Love it. Do it all the time. Love that it’s not as scientific as baking. I can toss this and that and not have to measure or whatever and it still turns out well…

If you clean as you go, it's easy and no mess..

I don't mind cooking when I have the time, aren't distracted am cooking something interesting. Right now we're trying to teach the boys how to cook. They're enjoying it.

I prefer baking though if I'm not distracted. Last weekend I made applesauce (my older loves to operate my peeler/corer/slicer) and pumpkin spice snicker doodles. They were both popular.

Whenever fall comes I get the irresistible urge to bake.

I like to cook, but I don't like cooking the same old thing again and again. My favourite thing to do is set myself a challenge - ie, pick up whatever's in season and figure out what to do with it. Try to make something delicious out of parts you'd normally throw away (like onion tops). Or my current one - get a new cookbook and make everything in it. :teeth:

When I was healthy I loved to cook & bake. I would regularly spend 2 to 3 hours on dinner. We had homemade dessert every night. I loved the challenge of trying to make low calorie &/or low fat desserts that DH couldn't tell a difference in. :ssst: Now that I can't even stand at the counter &/or stove for 30 minutes without my knees swelling & aching, I no longer like to cook. If I can't spend time experimenting with spices, marinades & desserts, I don't want to cook at all. :( We get takeout 90% of the time now, but I miss being able to cook & bake the way I want to & DH really misses the homemade dessert.

I like to cook but not clean up most of the recipes I have are chicken dishes that are also crock pot recipes, that are or have been change by me to be gluten free.

I love cooking and baking both. I don't bake as much as I used to since it's just myself and DH in the house, but when I do I usually share with our children and grandchildren.

As for cooking I have over 125 cookbooks and love trying new recipes. Sometimes we invite family or friends to be guinea pigs with the understanding that if the main dish doesn't turn out well we will get pizza! . Most times it turns out fine though. I just wish I could try ALL the recipes in my books that look/sound good.

I just spent a couple hours doing some baking today. I made Salted Caramel Apple Pie Bars and several loaves of Pumpkin bread. Now I am obsessed with all the recipes I have pinned on Pinterest and never have time to make.

I love to cook...just not every day at dinner time. What about you? Do you like experimenting or prefer to order out?

Those apple bars look amazing! Its the one on pinterest right?

Lately I am getting recipes from my 15 yr old daughter and they have been easy and tasty like Bruschetta chicken pasta pinterest recipe. I am the kind of cook that likes recipes with only a few ingredients.

I enjoy both. I've gotten pretty good at it over the years, so I enjoy putting nice meals together and I especially love cooking for parties or the holidays. My DD loves to bake with me, so we do that a lot.

We haven't had a chilly fall-like day here yet, but as soon as we do, I'll be making pumpkin muffins, banana bread and some other cozy things - like chicken pot pie or meatloaf or pot roast! Those first cool fall days are the best!
