Do you like THUNDER and LIGHTNING storms?

Do you like a good thunder and lightning storm?

  • Love Them!

  • Only if not really bad

  • They are ok

  • Don't like 'em

  • I'll be out from under the bed when it's over, thanks.

I moved to the Lightning capital of the US, our hockey team is named Lightning. I'd sure as heck better enjoy them!

This time of year, we experience a lot of the heat lightning. It's really cool to be driving over Tampa Bay at night and look around at nature's fireworks. Makes me almost wish there was a pull off like on the Chesapeake Bridge tunnel, so that we could enjoy the experience longer.

The kids have our love of this stuff, too.

They're great unless the power goes out. I hate it when the power goes out.

I used to love them and watch them from our mtn top as the strikes hit the valley below. I don't love them so much anymore since we got hit a few times and lost many electrical and phone appliances to the tune of 1000's of dollars. Now I just run around unplugging things and hope I am home when a storm comes so I have a chance to try and save my hard earned things. So since I became an adult, responsible for paying the bills and safety of my family, I must say I hate storms these days. They've been a real pain.

I love them unless they're really bad. I worry and my dogs are terrified.

 I love them and so does my mom..I love the rain.. I love to run in it.As long as the power doesnt go out....

I live in the "lightning capital" also, as several other posters do, but I have never liked them. And since one last year sent one of our 60-ft Oak trees through my bedroom ceiling, I am absolutely terrified of them.

They are calling for some to come in here this afternoon! The cold front is coming along with bad storms to cool things off! It has been so hot! We do not have to many storms here, so when we do get one they scare me... :scared1:

I used to love thunder/lightning storms until 2 years ago...we just pulled in our garage and heard a huge bang....our neighbor right behind us...her chimney got struck by lightning...bricks everywhere, including in our backyard. Then a few months later, the house down the street from us....same thing happened. Ever since that, I can not STAND the lightning storms.

Love them. The only time we see them though is in Florida. It doesn't happen very often here and it's only one or two booms when it does.

I don't mind them if they're mild, but dh would be one of those storm-chaser people if he could. He'll stand under our porch while there's wild lightning and thunder that rocks our house. Me? I'm cowering in the corner somewhere while wearing what feels like a canine fur coat as our Big Baby dogs fight for the safe harbour of my lap.

I love them..I once sat on metal bleachers at a baseball field, with pine trees nearby, in the middle of a really intense thunderstorm, I was soaked and at times could feel the hair stand up on the back of my neck, what an adrenalin rush :cool1:

I don't mind them too much except that I work for a utility company and they usually mean a lot more work for us. However, come Wednesday morning I will walk out of here for the last time and will retire. Let the storms begin... after Wednesday, that is!

I love them. :goodvibes There is something really awe inspiring about the power of nature. :) It's a huge rush to me to stand under the porch and just the way the air feels and smells. Of course if I was home alone, then I would be wrapped up under the covers and hoping the power didn't go out. :teeth:

:cool1: Let's rock & roll!! :cool1:

Seems like this summer we finally got some
good ones, but in past years they seem to
have fizzled out...
I agree with you, PD - I'm happiest when I
know I've disconnected the plugs & the phone
from my computer.

eta: Happy Retirement George!
(I can't believe I used the banana...)

I won't stand outside in them and hate to take a shower while it's storming, but I love to watch the light show and hear the booming. It's like I become another person with snakes in my hair and fingernails an inch long... I could really be Frankenstein's monster (or his mother?) :)

DH and i both love a good thunder storm
but they are harder to enoy now since DD is terrified of them

DH and I both love them. We head out to the front porch and sit in the wooden swing and watch the sky light up. When we were living in SC, there was one ferocious storm brewing...the sky was dark and lighting coming from all directions. DH goes inside and emerges with the CamCorder. He has it plugged in because the battery had died. I calmly asked him which ER he wanted me to have him taken to, to be pronounced dead when the lightening hit his electronic gadget hooked to the wall socket :rotfl2: He got a clue and put it away. He's usually very bright...but that evening, he could have been brighter than he ever wanted to be :rotfl: MEN!!!

As long as there is no threat of tornado I LOOOOOOOOOVE them :) :) :)

I love watching them as long as I am at home. During the day I love how it gets really dark, at night I love watching the lightning. :goodvibes
