Do you like living in Tennessee?

I live in Chattanooga, TN and I love it. We experience all four seasons. The mountains are beautiful. I am two hours from Gatlinburg/Nashville/Birmingham/Atlanta. So quick day trips are always fun. East, TN is a great place to live.

What a timely thread. Don't live in TN but have an Aunt that lives in eastern TN and a friend in Knoxville. I go up couple times a year and we can not wait to live up here! In fact hubby is looking into jobs around Knoxville and Chattanooga areas. There seems to be so many things to do up there and as a 40 year resident of Florida it doesn't seem as hot up in that area as down here. I am a soggy mess most of the year in Florida lol. And the people are much nicer in TN too. At least Eastern TN.

I lived in south central Kentucky for about 8 years, just about an hour north of Nashville. East Tennessee may be somewhat different but don't expect the summers to be that much cooler than Florida. I had friends in Kentucky who lived in Florida at one point and they both said the heat and humidity was much worse in Kentucky than it was in Florida.

In Florida you have the ocean breezes working to make the weather more comfortable which you don't have in Kentucky or Tennessee. Also, it was not unusual for the temperature to be 95 with 80% humidity or more for two or three weeks straight until a tornado producing thunderstorm rolls through. In Florida, from what I told, in the summer it's humid but the daily rain blows most of the humidity out of the air.

Just something to think about.

I would also argue against the four distinct seasons thing but that's really all in what you're used to. I really consider that area of the country to have two seasons. Fall and Summer.

I have been up in East TN in the summer and it was hot but didn't seem as oppressive as it does down here. I could actually be outside and sit on porch and not die. I am in the middle of state here in Florida so no cool sea breezes lol. I passed through Kentucky after dropping sis off in Indiana and that is another beautiful part of the world. Also been at my Aunt when they had snow but she lives closer to mountain. That was year they had the most snow they have had there haha. I thought it was magical!

BTW love your name Turn The Page! One of my favorite Seger songs

It is a good song lol.

The mountains may be a bit different from where I was but I spent some time in western North Carolina in the summer and still found the heat oppressive. But then again, being from Michigan, I consider it summer when it is consistently 70 degrees and find anything over 80 to be hot and 90 to be oppressive. I'm just not built to withstand heat lol.

Yeah I feel better in cooler weather. 80-90 is unbearable to me 50-70 are nice and heavenly lol

The Tri-Cities (Bristol, Kingsport, Johnson City) area has a lot to offer and have several smaller towns in the general area. Just depends on what you are looking for. :)

Hello fellow Tri-Citian! I agree the Tri- Cities is a good place to grow up, have a family and retire.

Lots of small towns inside of each city. It's beautiful here in every season I think.

Howdy, neighbors! Another vote for the tri-cities. I'm actually in Bristol and we have a lot of new stores opening up soon. They are building a huge nice hotel downtown. Actually the city has done a lot to promote and build up the downtown area and it seems to be working.

How does one even start deciding on where to move, out of state?

He mentioned yesterday that maybe we should visit there again next year for our vacation and then scout out some towns. But where do you go from there?

I would rent before buying. This way you can see how the area is and decide if it is "the place" for you.
