Do You Like Fruit on Lettuce Salads?

There is a pizza on the menu at Via Napoli that makes me all twitchy. It’s the one with the melon on it. Just no. No no no no no.

No.

I always do a double take when I go to a restaurant and I am served a salad with some sort of fruit in it, but I haven't had one yet that didn't taste good.
A local fish and chips place includes a side salad with a home made dressing that is a bit like cole slaw dressing, and they put blueberries in the salad. All the flavors just work together.

There are so many things that are technically fruit. Does that count? Stuff like tomatoes, avocados, beans, cucumbers, olives, artichoke, etc. So yes if those count.

Since you asked, nope, they don't count. :) I know technically tomatoes are fruit, but I still put them in the vegetable category. Beans are definitely not a fruit. In a salad? Blech. The rest are okay, but still not sure I'd classify them as fruit.

I agree. No. Just no. :crazy2:

Although I would probably take a bite, just to make sure. I was always taught you had to at least taste it, even if you thought you wouldn't like it. You might be surprised. But fruit on pizza??? :scared:

I the ham and melon combo but it has to be COLD.

But I enjoy pineapple on pizza :)

I love lettuce salads with fruit on them. Lately I've been making them at home with mixed greens, chunks of fresh honeycrisp apple, halved red grapes and strawberries, mandarin oranges, along with glazed walnuts or pecans, goat cheese, dried cherries, and raspberry vinaigrette. Sometimes I add pieces of crunchy dried apples on top too.

Ken's has a great apple vinaigrette dressing too, but the only place I've ever been able to find it is at Kroger. I need to stop there next time I'm near so I can get a couple bottles.

Just wondering if others like fresh fruit on their salads, and do you make them at home or order in a restaurant? We were on Mackinaw Island last month and ate at the Pink Pony, they have a really great salad with apples (fresh and dried) and gorgonzola cheese and a champagne vinaigrette.
Very much so.

Yes, I love strawberries, blueberries, and mandarin oranges in my salads, along with a little cheese and croutons. I could live without the nuts on a salad, although there are a few salads I do like sliced almonds on.

Aldi's has some delicious salad dressings, including the House Vinaigrette and the Four Cheese Blend.

Yes I like most all the fruits mentioned in my salads except for the mandarin oranges. Those little things just gross me out.
