Do you like attending "big" events?

We are watching the inauguration events on television and it is just amazing how many people are there!! It's been well known that it was to be a record crowd, but to see actually see all those people...WOW!!

I would love to be there to be part of it, but at the same time, it would be overwhelming. We couldn't do it with our young children, anyway.

So I was wondering, how many people just love to attend these "big" events. Inauguration, Super Bowl, the Olympics ...whatever is big in your world!

Nope, not me. I don't like really big crowds. Every year I watch the ball fall in Times Square in NY and look at the crowds saying "not me, never, no". I don't envy those people their waits for the port-a-potties, nor the watching out for pickpockets. My living room is warm and cozy! :)

I'd be waaayyy too claustrophobic to be there! I am enjoying watching it in my pjs though!

I do not want to attend an event where I have to wait in line to use a stinky port-a-potty. I do not like to be a sardine and then really not see the event. A TV will be your best viewing angle, except the select few with those tickets. If I had a ticket and use of a clean flushing toilet, then I would go.

No thank you. My sister and cousin were at Centennial Olympic Park when Rudolph placed that bomb. My sister was moved to safety before the blast. My cousin was hit in the face with shrapnel.

I'm just not a fan of crowds and I can't see much anyway, so I'm happy to stay home.

:sad1:

I never even thought about that possibiliy.

No, I hate crowds. I can't even take WDW at Christmas. ;)

When I was younger, this would be something I would be all over. Now, in my ripe old age of 38, there's no way! Give me the warmth and comfort of my recliner with a frosty beverage by my side any day! ::yes::

No, I'd be freaking out. Way too many people :crowded: .

Nope. Won't do Disney for Christmas because of that.

If I lived in D.C., I'd have gotten the hell out of town. I pity those people.

No I do not. I would not go for anything.
TOo many people and too damn cold!

I just emailed DH and told him I am so happy that we are "noboby"! I would hate to be freezing out there, even if we were special and could get seats and access to the inside potties!

But I HATE crowds. I would be having a major panic attack if I was in that crowd. They said on the news that if you open your paper to the front so you are looking at one page, that is the amount of space that people have.

It depends on what it is. If it's something in which I am genuinely interested and it's well-organized, sure. If it's going to be trying to fight through masses of chaotic people, hell no.

I've lived in Northern VA, just a stones throw away from Washington DC my entire life. I've been alive for 9 Inaugurations and I've attended exactly one. That was ONLY because I worked at a Law Firm in DC when Clinton was Inaugurated and they had a party because we could see the parade from our offices on Pennsylvania Ave. I went there REALLY early and left REALLY late to avoid as much of the crowd as I could.

I DID get lucky enough to attend an Inaugural Ball when President Bush was sworn in back in 2001. That was a mob scene, but it was at night and we could actually drive in to attend so it wasn't so bad.

I like to avoid crowds at all cost. Today my family is staying home and watching a Magnum PI Marathon. Thanks Netflix!

Thanks for your replies everyone! I get where many of you are coming from. The crowds, chaos & confusion just aren't for everyone.

But having just watched this moving, emotional ceremony I really wished I was there!
