Do you let your children pee outside??

Outside or inside.......that is the question

  • Sure, what's a little pee among trees?

  • No way, that's disgusting and rude

  • If there are no bathrooms within a close walk

  • Only if it's a pee-pee emergency

OK.......this is disgusting to some, second nature to others. We live in the south, and around here little boys (and some big boys :rolleyes1 ) will just "go" wherever they are, if they are outside and need to "go". I'm not talking the Walmart parking lot, or the public playground.......but in your yard, out in the woods..........

I potty trained both DS's with the enticement of "let's go pee-pee on that tree", or "let's go make some mud in that dirt". Both DS's (and DH  )if they are outside will happily "go" by a tree.
We live in a neighborhood, but have a larger yard, and several trees. No close neighbors......

Anyway, my mother is HORRIFIED!!!!!! Thinks it's beyond disgusting and that I'm raising beasts.

thoughts??

I guess in private and on your property it's your business and I can't see anything "wrong" with it.

Just the same, I wouldn't be teaching/allowing my kids to do it.

My DB was enticed to be potty trained with that philosophy as well... he couldn't do it in the front yard, but he was allowed to do it in our back yard because it was so wooded. Now, he only uses it for emergencies... :rotfl:

I, personally, don't see anything wrong with it, as long as it's just pee... now, if it's something else... a bit more... squishy... then, I'd have a problem with it... (One boy I babysat for did that A LOT... I DID think that was disgusting...   )

Anyway... just my .02!

Well, I live in the south and we have plenty of acreage. I must admit that my boys all will relieve themselves when nature calls...I didn't teach them that...their DAD did!:headache:

Of course there is no one to see them and they would never do it in public.

I voted "No Way!" and that goes for my sons & DH! :rotfl: That just wouldn't fly around here.

okay...I don't have any kids so I'm not sure what I would tell any children, but I have heard that urine is really good for the garden!

Only if we're somewhere where there are no bathrooms.

Of course I've still caught DS peeing on a tree in the yard

Please I would take the kids over the Junkies and Drunks that go on the front street all the time.

But I agree in these modern times it's just not called for.

We have seen them at MK peeing up in the bushes waiting for Wishes on the path going along the castle

I'm from the sousth with three boys and I never gave them that option. In fact when Hurrican Floyd hit several years ago and our city was without electricity and water I had to really talk them into going outside.

I remember one time I took DD in her stroller for a long walk. She was potty trained at the time so she must have been about 3. Anyway, we weren't near anywhere when she said she had to go to the bathroom. I had know choice put to teach her how to squat . Of course after that she had to tell anyone and everyone about her newly acquired skill :sad2: :rotfl: .

Remind me to watch where I step next time I'm in your neck of the woods!! :lmao:

I never saw or heard of kids peeing outside until I saw a kid do it on Supernanny. The kid refused to use the toilet so his mom took him outside the house until he found a spot- this was out in broad daylight in plain view of neighbors. It was like he was a dog! The nanny was appalled and so was I!

You're safe - this happened where we used to live :teeth:. To the best of my knowledge none of us has peed in Mercer Co. :rotfl: .

I don't have kids, but I can remember being a kid and having to do an "emergency" pee outside a few times in my life, as did my brother. It wasn't a habit, & I turned out to be a contributing member of society.;)
