Do you leave lights on at night?

Yes I leave some lights on and the plasma on because I have retinitis pigmentosa and need the light just to get to the bathroom. I do NOT like a dark and quiet house.

no actual lights on, but we have a nightlight in the hallway that burns 24/7. DD needs it to find her way to the bathroom at night if she gets up (doesn't happen much), and we always forget to turn it off in the morning.

just a low light in the kitchen/downstairs area, just in case. But nothing upstairs where our bedrooms are. Mainly because i wouldn't want anyone to be able to hide in the dark if they broke in!

I have a black dog. A nightlight is a necessity.

:rotfl2: i use an old reversible comforter for my dogs bed, and it took me awhile to figure out the use the white side instead of the black side, so i could actually see her on it.

we leave the light above the stove on all night. it just gives enough light to see if someone gets up. my kids have a dim light that they keep on all night. and, i leave a nightlight in the hall in case one of the kids wakes up to use the restroom or something.

Am I the only one here who feels claustrophobic if it is totally dark? I HAVE to be able to at least see a tiny bit of light.

I leave my lava lamp on during the night, and sometimes, it's kinda rare that the light in the bathroom is on, but sometimes it is.

We have no streetlights on our street so we leave the front porch lights and back lights on for security purposes. Other than that, no lights! I can't sleep with even just the TV or nightlight on, drives me crazy. I like it DARK dark!

I do. I am not afraid of the dark but when it's pitch black I start to get this walls-are-getting-closer feeling. And it would be pitch black for me, no moonlight, because I have those no-light-can-get-though curtains as in the morning the sun will shine down RIGHT on my face. It's a terrible way to wake up, especially during the summer.

It is like I wrote this post!!!

I swear, I do the exact same thing, even down to the show! If there is something on that I haven't seen before, I feel like I have open my eyes and see what's going on every once in a while. An old Friends episode, I can picture clearly in my head as I fall asleep!

I need the noise and I need the light. I am scared of the dark. :scared1:

Haha. Maybe it's a Friends thing. I knew a handful of people in 2004ish (when Friends was still a popular subject) who would do this and a couple that still do now. Not just with Friends of course but including it, and other DVDs they have.

My go to DVDs are Weeds, Friends, SATC, 30 Rock, Monk and all the HP movies. It's disturbing how many times I have seen the beginnings of these shows/movies, lol.

In our tiny apartment we have a string of white Christmas lights on the bookshelf where we keep our DVDs and such. It's in the living room but they give plenty of light for when you are coming home at 1 in the morning. Plus they use very little electricity so we keep them on all the time.

Yes we sleep with a closet light on, so I can see to get up in middle of the night to feed our baby. We leave our aquarium lights on at night in living room for a night light for kids going to bathroom. We also have 2 security lights on at night outside.

I leave my front and back door lights on since I live in a neighborhood that's very dark. (There is 1 street light that I can see from my house) I occasionally leave a light on in my bathroom and my alarm clock provides enough light for my bedroom. I also have to have music or I can't sleep. Like some of the other members, I get the walls-closing-in feel if a room is pitch dark. :)

We also have LED nightlights in the bathrooms. Ours our very dim (purposely) but give enough of a glow to easily get around. They are supposed to cost about 25 cents a year to operate.

The cost of running a night light is pennies over the year. The safety of not falling in the night is well worth the few pennies.

Yes, I leave several lights on at night. There is a small touch lamp in one corner of the family room, that is on low.

The kitchen has a nightlight by the sink, and I have a small lamp with a 40-watt bulb on the other side of the room on the baker's rack that stays on.

And both bathrooms have nightlights.

I don't think they use all that much electricity, and frankly I don't care. :) I like having lights on so I'm not stumbling around in the dark if I have to get up to pee or get a drink of water. :)

other than a nightlite in the kids rooms, there are no lights on.

We have a nightlight in DS's room, one in the hallway, one in our bathroom.

We also have started leaving the back door light on after a neighbor had someone try and kick in their door one morning at 2:00 a.m.
