I know they have their own site. But no one has answered me yet. I am going to universal for the first time. We are going to both parks and like i said i have never been before. Can anyone help me. I hate drops. I am afraid of them. Can anyone tell me what rides to stay away from and why. I am afraid of splash mountain, but i go on it at least once each visit. Help

 I have, still no answer.

Hi Raggedy,

My DS (15) and I just returned from our first trip to Disney/US/IOA at the end of August.

We had a great time!!!

If you are afraid of drops you may want to avoid the following...

In IOA

Dueling Dragons
Hulk
Dr Doom
Ripsaw Falls
Jurrassic Park River Ride

In US

The Mummy

Having said that, it really depends on what you can tolerate. These are some of the best rides in the parks. Mummy is particularly good and has relatively mild drops (compared with Dueling dragons and hulk). In some ways it is similar to Rockin Roller Coaster at MGM without the inversions.

If you can do splash mountain you will probably be ok with Jurassic Park. The boats are much bigger and you are secured by a lap bar. However the drop is higher. Its a great ride and if you can, dont miss it.

As for Dueling dragons and Hulk these should not be missed if you love roller coasters but they can be some what intense. It took me a half hour to convince my son to ride and then I couldn't get him off.

Check the Universal site. they have short movies of several of these rides.

Hope this was helpful and have a great time!!

John

if it were my first time, i would try everything. how do you know if you don't like something unless you try it?? not trying to be:snooty: here, but, give everything a try......trying to be positive for you.... :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

well i can do splash mountain and space mountain. I am afraid of them but i do them. As for tower of terror NO WAY. I can't do that one. I did try the sites you are talking about and no one has answered me. They are not as busy as the one's on the disney side. Thank you though. roller costers don't bother me unless it is the old fashion one that go slow up and have a huge drop.

haven't been to UO for long time, as i said. but, i do believe RNR does not go up slow for big drop...i believe it "catapults" you from the start. i was on a coaster like this (catapult, in the dark and inside) in VA a while back.....it was awesome! we had to do it again because we "forgot" the ride...we were too busy being in awe of the take-off! :hyper: i hope you find someone to help you out...good luck! :wave2:

If you can deal with Splash Mountain, you could probably do everything that isn't a roller-coaster or Dr. Doom.

Dr. Doom is worse than the Tower of Terror, I think, because there isn't anything around you. You are outside, and you can see everything around you (and how you'll just fall down), and your arms and legs are just flapping in the wind.

The other three people on the ride kept laughing at me, because I would scream, and was so petrified I began praying, then screaming.

this is great advice. Can you believe no one answered me on the universal site. LOL. Thank you everyone for being so nice.

Raggedy,
i don't know if you get the travel channel, but universal has 2 shows on the month of september: the portofino hotel (airing-9/15, 9/17 and 9/19) and Backstage at Universal (airing 9/30). every once in a while, i go to the travel channel website and put a search in for the places i plan to visit (check disney & universal each time). i don't know if you'll find what you're looking for in the Backstage show, but, maybe it'll help.....but only if you GET travel channel.....seems like some don't! good luck :wave2:
