do you immediately start saving up for next trip as soon as you return?

yup - have that WDW fund started already
(and 3 other trips before that)

trying to pay for WDW just by my "pocket change" this time - not using any household funds since next trip is a mother/son vacation

Funny you should ask. I intend to purchase another ticket right after my next trip even though I am not sure when I'll return (figure ticket is cheaper now and I know I'll return in the future).

However, just like you, I'll start saving my extra change again.

first thing i did when i returned in August is take any left over spending oney and get itin the ING Account for next year's trip. Also lobbied (successfully) for extra vacation time next year so DS (8) and I can spend an entire week next year (first time we could do that!)

Also, I have gotten a couple "bonus" things - $20 visa card, $10 MC Card for opening accounts, etc and am using those to buy Disney Dollars.

I am hooked...is that a sad state for a 35 year old single dad or a good thing??

I have only been back for 2 days and am already saving and planning for next time. Part of today's paycheck went into savings, and all of my loose change into my monkey bank!

Now, I just have to convince my sister to come along!:D

Yup.... we actually had a bit left in the "vacation" account after our last visit, so I left it in there as "seed" money. Unfortunately my seed must need some fertilizer, because it is growing SLOWLY! (Actually I had to dip in for a few unexpected expenses)
But we are currently aiming for/talking about a Nov 2005 or Janu 2006 trip... I'm sure that we will be ready by then!.............P

That's a good thing. :D

We do the same thing; our leftover funds go towards our next vacation.

We're missing Disney this year. :( And now our trip to the dells next week is canceled because three out of the five of us are sick (we'll just go for a quick weekend in December). So now we're extending our Disney vacation next year with the funds from our missed trip. DH really wants to do Food and Wine but I wanted to do MVMCP, so he promised me we could go back for a weekend in December!! That's cool because we'll still be able to swim and go boating during food and wine. I'm not so sure we would get to do those things in December.

We have one of those two gallon water bottles and every single bit of our change goes in there every day all year round. It's our easiest Disney fund. Right now I'm in the process of saving for two trips. The first one is coming up soon and will be an all girls trip with my DD and 2 DGDs. The next one will be a two week anniversary trip for just DH and I next October. I mentioned to DH that I'd like to drive cross country (we live in NJ) to CA and the Pacific Ocean, stopping to see the Grand Canyon for a couple days. I could hardly believe it when he said, "What's in the Grand Canyon - book us for Disney again."!!! You don't have to say that twice to me! Suits me just fine!! Planning WDW trips is what I like to do best.

I do just that. I am always saving for Disney which is better then charging for Disney. We are going next month and I am already planning for Nov/Dec 2006. As soon as they open the dates I will reserve my room at the Poly. We have not been able to stay there before so this will be our big vacation before the next military move. So I will need that extra time to get the money saved up. Plus this time we are going to the parks for 4 days so I bought a seven day pass so that we can use it next trip as well. Every little bit helps.

We never stop saving for our Disney trips! We always have one or more trips in the works. I deduct a certain amount of $ from my paycheck every week and save change and dollar bills.

We just got back last Sunday and had travelers checks left from the trip. They are going back into the pot for our next trip.

When I cashed in my change just prior to this last trip I had $262.00. I had only been saving the change since end of April. I had went went to Vegas in April and had cashed it in at that time.

We just got back on Friday and I have started planning for our Christmas trip in 2005. It seems so far away though.

immediatlely after we got home from out trip in july i decided to start a coin jar and put all my change in the jar and not touch it that will be for our next trip and to charge all that i can on my disney visa to earn rewards and of course to keep checking this board every time for tips on saving for next trip

I don't start saving as soon as I return FROM a trip. I'm constantly saving for my WDW trips. I'm leaving in 4 days for FL. Will be back at WDW again in May and already have money saved for the trip.
It's just a continuous cycle (for which my friends think I'm nuts!)

Nope.

DH and I don't visit Disney often, so I tend to not start saving til about a year and a half out. I at one time had $470 in my Disney savings jar, but hurricane Ivan came and blew that to you know where in a handbasket. :( I've got about $115 in there now and I'm going to start throwing a lot more money in January of next year. I've got $125 sitting in my ING account that's going to be used for Disney. As a matter of fact, that will pay for DH and my spa treatments! ::yes:: :teeth:
