Do you hope to retire somplace warmer?

I'm on my way! I retired at the end of November and will be moving to Windermere (Orlando area) in June. I've wanted to move there ever since DD was 4 and we first visited WDW. I love the area. I want to live some place where the weather is nice enough year round that I can get out and do things. There is so much to do in Florida!

DD is going to turn 16 soon. I decided that this was the time to move. I didn't want to move her beyond this point in high school. She wants a career in the film industry. Several of the universities in Florida have a good film progam. By moving now, she will be able to get in-state tuition.

I was also afraid that if we stayed in Missouri until she graduated, that she would want to go to college with her friends in this area. With my luck, she would meet someone and decide to stay in the midwest. I'm selfish. I admit it. I want it all. So, we are moving now. I hope that she decides to stay in Florida!

I'd worked for the same company 30 years. I was ready for a change. Gosh, the things we do for our kids. I had to retire and move to Florida. Real tough!!

Florida, here I come!!!!!

Absolutely. Scottsdale, AZ here we come....in about 25 years or so!

Absolutely. We will be moving to Florida when my youngest graduates from High School. That's 6 more years. We're not retiring there, just relocating. My husband does heating and a/c so finding work shouldn't be a problem, and I want to work at WDW.

Dawn

DH and I will be moving out of Florida when we retire. We have both lived here all our lives and we are ready for a change of scenery. We are wanting to retire to the mountains.

We're going to retire to Florida from New York as soon as DH can. No way I'm going to live out my golden years in this kind of cold weather.;)

We have jsut started talking about relocating to Florida. I can't take the cold anymore. I'm getting a fight from the 11yo, the 5yo doesn't say anything and the 19yo wants to know if I'll leave him the house here so he has a place to stay. I would like to move within a year or 2 but who knows how things will work out.

I keep telling my DH that I plan on getting a place in FL, close to WDW, after I retire(20 years-how sad:( ). I don't want to live there year round, just thru from late fall to late spring. I really enjoy spring/summer/early fall in NE, but I absolutely HATE the winters and this winter just reinforces that feeling!

I'm not sure if he's planning on coming with me, but I bet he'd like to work at a WDW golf course for his retirement "job"!

My first choice is Puerto Rico, with Florida a close second, but I have a long way to go:( Guess I'll just have to be happy with annual visits!

Oh yes!!! I plan on being a snow bird. Winters in Florida and Summers in beautiful Ashe County, NC! I can't stand the cold and I can't stand the heat. So this plan works out wonderfully for me. ;)

Already in Florida so I don't need to, but I would like to move to a different area of the state.

Nope, it's quite warm enough here thanks..........any warmer & we'd really roast:D

Where my dd is, that is where I will be. ;) Having only one, I can follow her anywhere!!:p

DH & I both love FL, so I imagine we'll spend lots of time there in the winter. I could see us going down after the holidays until Easter.

Oh yeah, definitely moving south! I don't know when. We thought we were going this year with a job move, but the terms just didn't work out with the new job (same company, different job). Dh's company's headquarters are in South Florida, still hoping! But we will at least retire somewhere warm, probably Florida. I know ds will probably grow up and move south, he hates the winter as much as his parents do, lol, dd is still questionable. My cousin and his wife live in Orlando and they followed her parents down who retired and both (her parents) work part time for Mickey!

I could see me doing the snowbird thing. Right aftewr Christmas until the early spring in Florida, then back to New England for spring, summer, fall. There is nothing like New England in the fall.

I sure hope we don't wait to retire to relocate to WDW...err, I mean Florida:teeth: We've lived in Tampa and Miami and really enjoyed our time there:D

Last week I had dinner with a client who bought a waterfront condo and rents it out. The profits have already returned her 10% deposit and with what it makes it will be paid for in 15 years +/-.

I LIKE THAT IDEA! Sounds like a great way to get someone else to pay for your retirement. We'll start looking at condos when we go to Clearwater in March!

Could become a snowbird sooner than I thought!
