Do You HAVE to Make a Reservation at the Radisson?

DH and I are booked on the 1/18 sailing of the Magic, BUT...there is a HUGE possibility that we may have to cancel it on 1/7, depending on what my Dad finds out at his appointment with a cardiologist. So, I've been holding off making any "night before" reservations. What I'm wondering is if you can just drive in the day before and still get a room at the Radisson or if they get completely booked a few days/weeks before each sailing? Does anyone know? I just hate calling to make all these reservations only to possibly have to call and cancel them. :( We are flexible in that we don't HAVE to stay at the Radisson, we could even stay an hour or so away and just finish driving to the port the next morning. I just really don't know WHAT to do...

Just my $.02 worth.....

I personally wouldn't travel Florida in January without having a room reservation. Granted, that month is not as busy as a little later in the Winter, but you never know.

Have you checked the Radisson Web site? I think you can make a reservation there, they send you an e-mail with the confirmation number and if you need to cancel you can probably do it on the Web as well. I've never done it at Radisson, but I do it all the time with Marriott, Hyatt, etc.

That's right... we have made online Radisson ressies a few times. It is very easy to book, change or cancel your ressie online. the site is very easy to navigate. I would tend to agree with outahere...I would not travel anywhere anymore without a confirmed ressie, just in case. I believe their cancellation policy is only 24 hours, so you should know well ahead of that if you need to cancel or not.

We have a ressie for 1/24. I did call the 800# to make mine. My confirmation says cancel by 6pm on 1/24=no penalty, so you don't even have to give it 24 hrs. No shows or late cancel will be charge $108.90. We have the double king bed suite for $99/night

I had to call on 11/27 to cancel our Radisson night for 11/29 - the night before we were to sail on the 11/30 cruise.
And I had to call to cancel the Avis car. We then called Avis back on 11/28 and reserved the car for the 8nights we stayed at WDW.

We were just at the Raddison last week and we saw alot of very unhappy people trying to get a room and finding out the place was full. Ressies are a must because they are full most of the time because it is so close to the port. Also, after you make your room reservation also make your reservation for the shuttle to the port. They have several shuttles to the ships and if you don't have a spot on the shuttle you may have to stand in line for a open space.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I reserved one of the king whirlpool suites this morning for $99 for the night before our Carnival cruise (did this on-line and got a confirmation number) but when I tried to reserve a room for the night before our Disney cruise, it said they were already full so I called directly to the hotel and yes, they are full, so I guess I waited too long. Oh well, I just went to Dave's site and looked at all the other hotels nearby and made a reservation at Quality Suites instead. I'm sure we'll be just as happy there.
