Do you have to have to be a resort guest to use boat to Wilderness Lodge?

We are planning to stay offsite but were thinking of going to Whispering Canyon Cafee for Dinner during our stay. Can we use the boat to get from the MK to the Wilderness Lodge if we are not resort guests or will we have to go back to our car and drive over?

How long does it typically take to use the boat to get there?

Anyone is allowed to use the boat, however if you are planning to visit the Magic Kingdom that won't work if you are leaving your car in one of the self parking spots of the Wilderness Lodge, because it's not fair to guests who are staying there. However if you were to valet park and then plan to visit the Magic Kingdom after your meal then it would be ok.

I live in the area, so I don't stay at area hotels. On one or two occasions, we have had dinner at Artist Point and then we have taken the boat for a nice, free ride after dinner.

You can definitely use the boat to get there. We did it in 2006. I can't remember exactly how long the boat took...it was probably 15 minutes or more (???)

Not sure where the PP got the idea that you were leaving your car at Wilderness. We had our car parked in the MK lot so after dinner we jumped the boat back to MK and took the monorail back to the parking lot.

Whispering Canyon was fun -- make sure you have an unsuspecting person (children are the most fun) request some ketchup!

WIthout prompting my daughter and my husband will request ketchup because they eat it with pretty much every meal not matter what is served.

Thanks - I'm glad to know I can do the boat. I'm not planning to leave my car there, I was thinking the other way around.

it's an 8 minute trip one way from WL to MK
