Looking for a car seat ---my son is just turning 7mths and weighs about 23 lbs and is 29.5 inches long. He has outgrown his infant seat---we are looking at the Safety 1st Intera Convertible car seat. Because he is already so big we want to go with a carseat that goes higher in weight. SO do you have this carseat and if so how do you like it? TIA

No, I have the Costco that also goes up to 100lbs. This one wasn't available where I registered. Nice thing about it is the fact that it can be a backless booster as well. When I was researaching carseats, I read every review I could find as i needed to purchase 3 carseats (so wanted a lasting style that could convert to a booster) and of course, I wanted a safe carseat. They cost the same. Both are about $150. Here's a link to epinions which I found helpful way back when. http://www.epinions.com/Safety_1st_..._Intera_Convertible_22460/display_~full_specs

I have a big baby boy also. We bought a Britax Marathon. It goes up to 65lbs and Britax are very highly rated.

I frequent the boards at windsorpeak.com for carseat advice: Carseat board

and www.car-seat.org . Do a search on Intera. Members and certified carseat inspectors whom are members have given reviews.

I went with the Britax Marathon, too. We had an older Britax Roundabout which expired this month (the seat is good for 6 years from date of manufacture) so we bought this one and it works wonderfully.

BTW Fisher Price is now offering Britax manufactured seats under their Safe Voyage and Safe Voyage Deluxe lines. There are less bells and whistles, basic color selections, and their maximum weight differs from the top of the line Britax one's, but they are cheaper.

Safe Voyage is modeled after the Britax Roundabout and harnesses up to 40 lbs while the Fisher Price Safe Voyage Deluxe is based on the Britax Marathon and harnesses up to 55 pounds.

GL! :wizard:

We to have a Britax Marathon and a Roundabout. I wish we got another Marathon, they can stay in them longer.

I also have 2 Britax Marathon's. They are very easy to install in a car and very confortable for my boys. They are the best car seats!!!

We got a Marathon for my 2 1/2 year old because he outgrew his original carseat and I still needed 5 point harness. He's still in it at 4.5 years old and almost 50 lbs. Next fall we'll need to get him a booster because even though he still won't be at the weight max; he will not be able to fit in the seat with a coat. He was really tight this year.

We loved it so much we bought another one when our second son was born.

We have a Britax Marathon and Roundabout for our daughter and when our son arrives and outgrowns his infant seat we'll be buying 2 more Marathons. I love this seat and can't say enough about it. We have tried various other types in the stores, relatives cars, and on vacation in towncars but my daughter seemed most comfortable in her Britax seats. While in her infant seat my daughter cried every single time she was in the car, from the moment she was strapped into the seat till the moment we took her out. Once we switched her to the Britax seats we never heard a peep out of her and she actually sleeps in the car now (something she never did in the infant seat) including 3.5 hours on the drive to/from my mom's house. I like the Roundabout too, but the Marathon is bigger so we'll get much more use out of it which is why I won't be getting another Roundabout but Marathons instead.

I actually own the Intera convertible, my DD outgrew her infant seat at 6 months so. I LOVE it! I know alot of people prefer their Britax, but for the money, the Intera is a great car seat. The backless booster on the bottom comes of it so it easy to install in the smaller cars like mine which has "molded" smaller seats ( I have a 2004 Hyundai Elantra GLS) and I have been able to use the booster for my 5 yo neice when I take her. My DD is now 33 lbs and 36 inches and is about to switch from the 5 point harness to the seat positioner booster part of it. She is quite comfortable in it and it was quite easy to install. We took it to San Antonio last year in the car, a 26 hour car ride and she was fine it! The other thing is that it is good till the child is 100 lbs, so I wont need to buy another. I plan on buying another when this new baby comes.Like I said, I love mine!! :thumbsup2
