Soooo since the holidays of the 25th, 26th and New Years Day falls on the weekend, is your employer giving you alternate days during the week off? I cannot remember how it works if a stat holiday occurs on a weekend.
If a stat holiday falls on the weekend they have to give full time employees a day off. Part time staff may get paid stat pay.
"Weekends" are an alien concept in retail: we don't get them off, or at least not often. I got three of them off in five years, once. If you work Saturday and Sunday as part of your full time week--and many people in retail do--then you get the three stat holidays off this year. Nothing else.
we got a half day on the 24th and 31st, then off 27, 28 and the 3rd.
Our other office which is open on weekends only gets the half day on the 24 and 31st, and closed on the 25th, 26th, and the 1st. so those who are not typically scheduled on the weekends anyway don't get any time off.
School starts on January 3rd in our area.....but I'm off work!
I work for the Government and we get the 27 and 28 off and then the 3rd. Just the way it falls this year. Kinda nice!!

e.g. our other office is mostly staffed by temp part-timers who work 2-4 days a week and their schedule is all over the place. They basically get scheduled as needed. some work the weekends fairly regularly, some mostly work the weekdays. Do they get holiday pay?
I seem to remember that they have to work for us for a certain number of hours before they are eligible for holiday pay (One is a fairly new hire...but I think she may have reached the min number of hours by now). I remember once having a new hire who was a full time temp and there were a couple of stat holidays. One she wasn't paid for and the other she was simply because of how the dates fell and the hours worked.
Not entirely true. Full time employees get a choice (this is mostly for reatil employees). You can either get a lieu day and still get paid for it (ie, you get 2 days off [they can be any 2 days near that holiday], but still get paid), or you can work, and get paid a Stat Day, in which case (as an example) you get paid 7 days, and work 5. Extra money! Except for the fact that you also get your usual 'weekend' days, whether or not they actually fall on a weekend. I can't speak for all provinces, but of the three I've worked in, employers are, by law, required to give employees 24 consective hours off in any 7 day period, as well as 48 consecutive hours off in any 14 day period.
