Do You Have Telephone "Issues"?

I hate answering the phone. My boss used to yell at me because I always let calls go to voicemail so I would know who called and what they wanted before I called back.

At home, I use the answering machine to screen calls and am guilty of not picking up with certain people because I know it will be an hour or two before I can get them off the phone.

I don't have a cell phone.

This is why I love the Dis - you can "talk" without talking! I tried to call one disser for the holidays and I think I freaked them out - they never returned my call. It was so unlike me to make a call like that - probably won't ever do that again!

I am so glad I am not alone. I hate talking on the phone. I don't mind chit-chat in person, but I loathe it on the phone. I also feel awkward trying to get off the phone and I am pretty much always the one to end the conversation. I feel a little bad for my niece and 2 nephews. I taught them at a pretty young age that a phone conversation with me is quick and to the point. I tell them when I will pick them up and that's about it. I miss out on some things because they do not just pick up the phone and call. However, when I see them in person they pretty much make up for it. I love to hear all the little details about their lives (boy can they talk). I don't know what makes it different in person, but it just is.

I switched back to a pre-paid cell phone because I was not getting my money's worth.

I definitely do - I have always had a little bit of a stutter, and while it has never been enough to affect my work, there are some times when i'm under stress and it seems to act up while i'm on the phone at work.

At home, it usually doesn't happen but I also dislike calling people I don't know for Birthday party invites and the like and have been known to call someone when I know i'll get their answering machine because I don't want to stutter.

Funny about Andrew not checking phone for messages--my DH does the same thing.

It drives me crazy! I'll come home from work at 11:00pm and find the caller ID flashing away! He "claims" it wasn't flashing when he came home. I will say, on his behalf though that sometimes the DD's will see who called when they get home, so unless nobody called after that, it's not going to be flashing. We won't even get into the messages that they will save in voice mail and then forget to give me.
