All off a sudden alot of family members are joining facebook and making a million posts about a reunion. I would like to keep them seperate from friends. Not sure if i should just start a new page and ask friends to accept me there, or is there a way so the both groups can't view eachothers posts on the wall. Have been searching and am a little confused. Thanks!

All of my friends & family are on the same acct. I had a problem yesterday though-I thought I was going to set up (application) for people checking my profile & apparently it sent messages to random friends tell them I was peeping them-a freind quickly informed me it could be a virus...UGH! I spent nearly 4 hrs running the virus scan-I plan on being VERY careful there now-friends or family asking me to join stuff!

I dont have a problem with my family and friends being on the same account, its just that my huge family is taking over!

Yeah, my family is about 30% of my facebook friends. I only have one account.

You can have one account - but just create different "lists" or "groups" of people, and you can even control who sees your posts - so you don't have to have all your old classmates viewing family posts.. etc.. no need for separate FB accounts.

I'm not sure how you do it, but you can break your fb friends up into different groups. Then you can control what each group gets to see. I don't do it but my 15 year old neice does. It got a little crazy when her Grandmothers were commenting on things her friends wrote. I think one of her guy friends wrote a curse....a minor one at that...and my Mom told him to watch his mouth :rotfl2: I thought my niece would die!!

Now she has it so that certain family members can only see certain things. Her Mom gets to see everything, ofcourse.

I only have one account, but have it set up so that some people can only see some things. I know that my extended family, and even some of my close family, don't care what I'm growing on my farm. :lmao:

I have one account but have changed my privacy settings to accommodate this.

I have one account with my family and friends. I also have my daycare parents on it.

I'm new to Facebook and it confuses me. I tried to be all annonymous, but one high school friend found me and now I have about 50 of my "closest friends" from high school as friends. These are people I barely knew in high school.

I tried to make a separate account for high school friends, but it wrote a label on them and separated them out so I stopped. I don't want it to be obvious which friends I am relegating to a separate list because I do have a few high school friends I would keep on my normal list.

I want to separate out the people I only accepted because they friended me and I didn't want to seem rude in case I see them at a reunion in 10 years. I have no desire to see their feed or have them see mine. Currently I just have their feeds hidden.

Can I separate lists without it being obvious I have done so?

Thanks everyone for your responses. How do i go about making it so my family doesnt read all my crazy posts by my friends and vise versa! I went to profile and privacy but got lost after that!
