Do you have plans for New Years Eve Yet?

DH and I always stay at a hotel on NYE with our DD-3 and DD-5. We swim, eat a bunch of junk and play games. It's safe and we always have a great time. :sunny:

I was just looking into doing this!! Are the price for hotels outrageous?

LOL. First of all, I'm not sure where you are, but I'm in Iowa and it's pretty cheap to stay at a hotel here ($129 for a whirlpool suite would be standard on NYE).

Second, I have *cough* connections *cough* and can get Embassy Suites for $39. :ssst:

The kids really enjoy it and DH and I can have a couple drinks in the safety of the hotel room. We don't have to worry about being on the road with drunk drivers. Plus, if we went to a party or out to dinner, we'd have to get a sitter, I would have to buy a new dress (have to? maybe want to :teeth: ), so it's probably cheaper to do the hotel thing (even without my...ahem...discount).

I bet your girls would have a blast!

I usually make a special dinner for DH & I - we watch TV or movies and get ready to watch a lot of Bowl games!

Petra will be about 2 hours from here New Years Eve in their final fairwell concert. Would love to get tickets and go. First Christian group DH and I started listening to many years ago.

We've done the fancy schmancy, dress up and go to a foo foo party thing. We'd done the oh-so-incredibly boring caviar and champagne thing, the chips and dip and beer (MUCH more fun) thing, the friends over thing, the going to friends thing. Always kinda anticlimactic, y'know?

Besides, when the clock hits midnight, we gotta push and shove to get to each other to smooch and ring in the new year. So this year, we're gonna stay home and do nuttin'.

I actually like one poster's idea and am going to steal it. We'll make appetizers and stuff that we normally make for guests bu tthis time, all for us! GREAT idea!

No plans here. We prefer to stay at home and off the roads!

We're boring too. I love to get in my pj's early, make some snacks and turn on the tv. I am out like a light long before the ball drops.

BF and I are going to Spain. I was really not looking forward to it (as I posted on another thread), but now I'm getting quite excited!

We've done this before too, but we were stupid and though while we thought of it early, we didn't shop for it early. We ended up going to like 5 different 7/11s trying to get frozen appetizers at like 5 pm on NYE. I think it would have been much more fun if we were a little better prepared.

We are going to Gatlinburg with DH's family (10 of us in all) but I can't get off work on New Year's Day, so I have to drive home by myself on New Year's Eve. :( DH and his family will just be half asleep on the couch watching Dick Clark :teeth: but I will be bummed not to be with them. (and no, I wouldn't think of asking my DH and kids to give up half their vacation to come home and do nothing while I go to work, so I want them to stay and have fun. I will get to stay 4 days; they will be there for 8.)

I may stay up until 11pm (12 where DH will be) and he can call me on the phone. (we have free mobile-to-mobile on our cells) Hey, are we too old for phone um..you know? :teeth:

live4christp1 did you end up getting tickets to the show. Me and a friend of mine will be going to that Petra Concert.

Well I have reservation for Jan 1-4 in Las Vegas and have an early 9 am flight on Jan 1st, so I will probably just be packing and getting ready for the trip. I thought about going out Dec 31st, but I really don't feel like paying $400 for a room.
