Do you have interesting neighbors?

"Interesting" is a good way of putting it. I live in an apartment building with 24 apartments in it. The whole building is like a reality show. There's this one woman upstairs who has a young son (he's probably about 6). Well, she is dark tan (her skin looks like leather) with bleached blonde hair. She is ALWAYS sunbathing right outside my window with a bikini on (while her son runs wild). That wouldn't be so bad, but she is NOT attractive in the least. And she's usually holding up a cigarette in one hand. She's like a poster child for cancer.

The people across the hall are always smoking pot in their apartment and I can smell it in the hallway. Now, these apartments are pretty small, but they have about 6 people living there. And if you look inside (they leave their door open sometimes and I'm nosey), there is no available floor or wall space. It's like a flea market threw up in there.

This guy upstairs is in a world by himself. Seriously. He is STRANGE.

I'm telling you...I could write a book!

In my subdivision, we all live in these 10 acres pods of two homes with a shared driveway. We own the driveway and the neighbors have an easement to drive across it. Lately, a puddle has been forming in a spot of the driveway. We've been really good friends with the husband, but I never see the wife. Anyway...my DH and the neighbor husband have been discussing what to do to fix the puddle. One day, while DH is working OT and neighbor husband is away on business, neighbor wife decides to hire someone to fix the puddle - and not give me notice. So, there I am driving down my driveway only to discover a dump truck and massive pile of dirt. So, I start to back up to go back to my house. The driveway is about 400' long, 6' wide and curves in various places. So, it wasn't a smooth ride. As I'm rounding the last curve, I see her and her sister standing between my driveway and hers. I decide that I don't want to get too close to them, so I stop the car and drive up my lawn. My rear tires spun and I had to put the car in 4-wheel drive to get up the hill. I yell "Thanks for the notice!" to her and go into the house.

About an hour later, there is this crazy banging on my door. I assume it's them and ignore it. An hour later, same banging. I call DH who was close to home. About 4 hours later, we're getting into my car to get pizza and there is a note from a police officer telling me that without my "side of the story" he's going to issue a warrant for my arrest! So, he comes the next day to tell me that she said I got close to her in my car and that was reckless and I could be arrested, yadda, yadda. So, I jump into Lawyer Mode and tell him that I stopped 28 feet from her driveway and, if she says I got closer, she was on MY driveway. She knew I had nowhere else to go other than back up my own driveway, so she should have gotten off MY driveway and let me pass. When you stand in someone's driveway, you run the risk that a car is going to come at you. So, he stops acting all NYPD and says she thought I should be spoken to about my reaction because she didn't think I should have gotten angry!! HELLO! This lunatic called the cops on me because I GOT MAD AT HER!!! Then he tells me that if it happens again (this was the 2nd time they blocked my driveway), I should call the cops on them!

Anyway....neighbor husband comes over to apologize and said he told her never to call the police unless she wants that person arrested and prosecuted for something and that she should have given me notice about the work on the driveway. So, we worked it out with him, but she's a nutcase and I'm going to avoid her like my life depends on it!

Pinwizard - Maybe your cute neighbor is looking to meet people. You should go over and introduce yourself. It is the neighborly thing to do. I do not know why more people do not do this. We do not know the people on either side of us and after 10 years I think this is kind of sad. I would love to move. Jay

My neighbor behind me has 13 kids! I kept trying to count, but only got to 6 (8 still at home, oldest 5 have moved out). And I think she might be pregnant again! Of course, after having 13 kids, her stomach may just stick out a little, but the rest of her is so thin, I don't know! Her youngest is 2. Wow.

There's a guy who lives behind my neighbor two doors down. He's an older guy, and he likes to walk around naked. Now mind you, I can't see him unless I'm at her house, but still, it's rather freaky! LOL Reminds me of "Ugly Naked Guy" from the show Friends! LOL

We're moving and our neighbors at our old house are a weird combination. To the south is the Presbyterian Minister and his wife...nice but not very "neighborly" (not just me, ask his church)...and to the north is a middle aged couple who grill steak at midnight, love flower gardening, and rent a limo to go to Ozfest ... they are very cool neighbors!!...I'm wondering what it will be like when we are realy gone??

They sure beat our first neighbors... when we were newlyweds, we rented the upstairs of a house...the guy downstairs used to "flash" not a pretty sight...60 years old and very overweight!!
I was taking a Photography course and was out one morning taking pictures...there he was standing in his window, stark naked...I quickly turned around and pretended to take a few photos of him and that was the last time he flashed me!::yes::

We lived in an apartment complex while our house was being built...not fun! Anyway, we lived in a downstairs apt. There are 4 apts per building. The two upstairs apts held VERY strange people. Directly above us there was a family of three (Dad, daughter, son) who were up ALL night...even on school nights. They ran around laughing and bouncing a basketball constantly. I never got ANY sleep while living there.

In the other upstairs apt lived a man who always had tons of teenage boys over at his apt. Not long after that, he got arrested for child molestation. He was giving the kids liquor and money, etc. for "favors." It scared me too death because I had a teenager (my stepson) living with me.

True. I guess that's a possibility. I should do that. Tonight I headed out for a walk and he was leaving his house. I just glanced quickly and think he did the same. Neither of of said hi or waved. Ha! Next time I'll introduce myself.

The rest of you... :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

Unless you counts the ones who let their 4-year old and their 18-month old wander the streets totally unsupervised..... :scared1:

No, all our neighbors are totally normal!

You reminded me of when DS was little and played soccer. There was a couple there with a son the same age playing. They also had a toddler who wandered off! My friend rand and got hold of the kid just before he reached the street. :( Then she told the parents what she thought of that! :earseek: Strangely enough, the guy was a doctor on staff at the hospital! :earseek:

Pinwizard - You defintely should try to meet this guy. Just go over and knock on his door and introduce yourself. I know it is hard, but just say "I have seen you around and just wanted to introduce myself." That is all. Ask where he is from, what he does for a living, etc... What can it hurt? Jay

That's true, Jay. :) I can inform him of the right days for garbage collection. ;) He had his out on Monday. Pick-up is Tuesday and Friday. I guess he probably figured that out last night when he got home. Hmmmmmmmmmm...he does have a cling on the back window of his truck that says "Duke." :) No, he does not have a pet, so wouldn't think it's a dog's name. LOLOL! :teeth:

we had several strange neighbors in our old neighborhood.
Right after we moved in I found a 5 yr old on our front porch looking in our window very early in the AM. He had actually stacked stuff up under the window so he could reach it. He was from the other end of the street. There were several occasions with him and his sister. Including the time I found his then 3 yr sister playing under my car

Also right after we moved in (less than a week) I had the next door neighbor yell at me for not unpacking all the boxes in my livingroom because they were blocking her view of us.

Right before we moved in we were doing some owrk on the place and arrived to find a neighbor had takn over our driveway and yard. He had been working on his van in our driveway and had his dog tied up in our fron yard. I we asked him to move the van and dog and he did. We left to get lunch and when we came back the van and dog were back. I told him to keep his property off of ours and he said as long as the house was vacant he could do what ever he wanted and if I said another word he would come shut me up. At this point I was in my house and he was on in my yard. He was gone a few days later. I found out they were renting and someone had told the owner what he was doing. The owner soon sold the place. They next owners were great, however the ones who where there when we left were very strange. It was a husband and wife and her sister. They all walked around naked with the curtains open. It was also a very tiny place, and they had 4 or 5 very large dogs, a couple of small ones and several cats. no one could stand to get close because of the smell. I'm just luck the dogs used the bathroom on the other side of their house. the nighbors on that side could not open their windows on that side of the house that.

Oh my gosh, Sha_lyn! :earseek: That is horrible!! I hope the neighborhood you're in now is much better. :)

Our neighborhood is really awesome. I'm really going to miss everyone when we move next month:( Our only "interesting" neighbor is the 10 y.o. boy next door. He just got an electric guitar, but he doesn't know how to play it. Still, he brings it outside, plugs in the amp. and gives everyone a "concert":p I keep begging my sister to tell me that we were not that weird when we were his age. He is also OBSESSED with getting a dirtbike. Every other word out of his mouth is "dirtbike" this "dirtbike" that. It's so funny!

We live on almost 3 acres now in a somewhat rural area. Well at least it was. 2 developements are going in near us now. The nearest neighbor is the man we bought our house from (we bought his fathers house). The neighbor moved to FL for a while and rented the house out. All ther renters have been ok, and ond family we became friends with. The rest have kept to themselves. Other than a noisy car I have no complaints.
