I live in Flint, MI and I think this is the only city in the surrounding area that doesn't have curbside recycling. I'm sick of having overflowing recycing bins and having to hall it all down to the recycing center. It wouldn't be so bad if it were conveniently located, but I have to make a special trip because who wants stinky recycling bins left sitting in the car while I do other errands. On top of which recycing here is very limited, #1 and #2 plastics, glass, paper, cardboard, and aluminum. I want to write a letter to the mayor, but I need to get the facts first.

We have three pick-ups. We have regular trash, recycling, and yard waste (between April and November). They are all picked up on the same day and the bill is included in our water/sewer/trash statement from our village.

it's been here for the past 18 years. We pay for it with our garbage pick-up;not included in our taxes.

We have had it for some time now, sorry don't remember how long.

we have recycling areas every few blocks....
theres a big cage thing for plastic bottles, another big container thing for paper, another container thingie for batteries and another for cds...
and another for cartons...
plus there's a big container for clothing that's taken to a clothing place to be given to those in need...
there might be something else i'm forgetting....

We have a brown and a green bin. The brown is for general waste and the green is for the recycling. They come round once a week to collect them both and we pay for it as part of our council tax.

I don't understand why shredded paper can't be recycled?

Had it for the last 15 years we have lived here. It is the same day as trash day, but a seperate company picks up. We actually get a monthy credit (discount) on our trash bill for recycling!

Our trash company picks up our recycling at the same time as the trash (it goes in a separate part of the truck). It is included in the price of pick-up. We live in the country and can choose any private pick-up service we want. They all take recycling. I think in the villages they have special bins and a separate truck picks up the recycling.

The county I live in has a great recycling program. They take all plastics #s 1-7, plastic bags, metal, glass, and paper. Certain things (electronics, cooking oil, fabric, etc) must be dropped off at the dump.

Yes we do but it's a bad schedule. Every other Friday they alternate between paper and Plastic/metal. So my recyclables wait around for up to 2 weeks before I put them out for pickup.

It costs an extra $150 a month!! That's in city limits and we live outside city limmits which means it would cost around $200 a month! I'm all for recycling but not at that price.:scared1:

Ours is every other Thursday morning. It's picked up by a different truck than the garbage.

yep. I live in her town too

We recently got "free" recycling added to our service. At the same time our bill went up $3/month (+15-20%).

Not here, at least not that I am aware of. We don't even have garbage service, my DH brings it to work where they have a few dumpsters (he and FIL own the company). The only recycling they have at work is for cardboard boxes.

I honestly do not even know where, if there is one, the recycling center is in this county :confused3

In the county where I work there is a big recycling/waste place that we could take things to but they would require a drive about 25 miles in each direction. They don't take that much for recycling either, newspapers, a few plastics and cans.

Our garbage is included in our taxes and we have cans and bottles picked up one week and newspapers the next week. 2 days a week is regular trash and things like sofas, chairs, tables, etc go out those days too, then there is one day a week for lawn/garden stuff like grass, branches etc. If you need a pick up for a fridge, washer or anything like that you just call and they will be there the next day for it.

We moved to another city last May, but at the time, Chesterfield MI did not have curbside recycling either. I can't believe how slow cities are to get with recycling. :sad2:

Yes, it is included. We have special orange bags to place all our items in, which you put out on the same morning as the rubbish.
