Do you have any unusual fears?

I don't think any of these are unusual but....

I refuse to let my arm hang over the bed at night. I'm afraid of some creepy guy being under the bed and licking it:confused3

I'm afraid of losing my teeth :scared1:

I love all thrill rides but have a recurring dream of plunging off the end of a roller coaster and landing in the ocean :scared1:

I'm afraid of exploring in a cave and coming to an area that gets real small and I get trapped and can't get back out

I'm afraid of getting a weird disease where I am thought to be dead but still very much alive and I end up getting buried :scared1:

...I need to stop watching TV:rotfl:

Snakes - I check the toilet every.single.time. before I sit down, and I also inspect the shower as well before getting in - frequently checking the shower head and drain. This was especially traumatic for me when we lived in a home with well water! Also, I simply cannot walk through the grass here in Florida without looking down at where I step - for fear of coming upon or stepping on a snake.

I was feeling particularly brave at my friend's house on Thanksgiving as I decided to walk around the side of her house (through the grass) to get to where the kids were playing in the back yard - BIG MISTAKE!!! Before I even got to the side, I looked down and saw a giant ribbon snake off to the side of the house!:eek::eek::eek::crazy2::crazy2::crazy2:

Never again! I will stick to pavement.

I saw that in a movie once! I don't even remember the name of the movie, but the girl thought it was her dog under the bed who was licking her hand (as he always does), but that time it was some creepy internet stalker guy. She didn't realize it until later when she saw a note on her mirror that said, "People can lick too". :crazy2:

That's TOTALLY what I thought of too!

OH MY GOD now I have all new things to worry about. I never even THOUGHT about a snake in the shower. I could hurl just thinking about it.!:crazy2:

I know!! I never thought about it either until, years ago, someone started a thread about snakes on the DIS (on the resorts board). The thread still pops up every now & then. Anyway, in the thread, someone posted a picture of a snake that was found in a room at the Contemporary - ALONG THE TOP OF THE CURTAIN. It was just laying there... all stretched out. And I started thinking, if a snake could get up to the top of a curtain rod & stretch out, why couldn't one get on top of a shower wall & stretch out? So, now I have to check my shower.

Thanks a lot, now I will think of this whenever I get up to go to the bathroom at night. I'm terrified of snakes but I never thought of one being in the toilet. One day there was a snake in my driveway so I wouldn't leave the house all day, everytime I looked outside it was still there. I didn't want to open the garage door because I was afraid it would slither into the garage. When DH got home he told me it was dead.

I never thought about the toilet either until one summer when we vacationed for a week in Florida. My DH was reading the local paper & said to me, "Here, you'll love this story." In the paper, there was a "local interest" story about a local citizen finding a ball python snake curled up in the bottom of his toilet when he went to use to the bathroom in the middle of the night. The article even had pictures of the snake all coiled up in the toilet! They had to call a special snake relocation specialist to get it out.

Can you imagine?!

I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Again, I'm fine w/ snakes outside as long as I can see them & I'm "surprised" by them. But just thinking about finding one in my house is giving me an anxiety attack!

I think my "snakes inside the house" fear began after a hearing a story when I was a little girl that my dad told. When he was a boy, he & his family were watching TV in their living room, & a snake fell off of the TV onto the floor right in front of them. :crazy2:

I have heard of that snake thread a few times but can never find it! Would it scare you too much to provide a link, if possible?

Here is a link to one thread...

If I remember correctly, in this thread, there is a link to a blog w/ pictures of the snake at The Contemporary.

There is another thread on here somewhere were a little boy got bit by a coral snake at the Caribbean Beach Resort (he dropped a toy in the bushes, bent down to get the toy, & the snake bit him). There might be a link to that story in the above thread as well.

Fear of having my blood pressure taken by a stranger, i.e. a nurse I don't know. I am ok if it is my Dr. Crazy, huh?

Yep, that was it. Thanks : )

I have another one, and this one is really irrational!!! I absolutely cannot bear the thought of opening up those Pillsbury biscuits in the packaging that you have to peel the wrapper, and then press a spoon into the crevice to get it to POP open. The anticipation it popping to open it gets me every time! :lmao:

:rotfl2: I wouldn't say I have a FEAR per se but I always hold my arms completely straight out away from me when I open them. I say a little prayer every time that it WON'T pop open when the wrapper peels off and I actually have to whack it against the counter to get it to pop open. But yes...full arms length out away from my body to open those buggers!:rolleyes1

:scared1::tiptoe::tiptoe::tiptoe:

I would be OUTTA THERE...oh my god why did I even look at that thread.

I wish I had never opened this thread. The thought of a snake in my toilet never even crossed my mind until now. Ugh.

If I have to turn on the light by pulling the chain beside the lightbulb, I cant look at it. I have this huge fear that when I pull the chain the lightbulb will explode. Its never happened before. I dont have to turn away when I flip a light switch- just those pull stringies in my basement.
I also cant have my arm hang over the bed at night- who knows what will grab me.
And I dont light gas grills.
Snakes, spiders, bring em on...but dont make me light a grill or pull a chain.

Falling down stairs. Not my stairs at home but wide concrete type steps or the stairs at work or a shopping mall. I can walk down them ok but feel so sick whilst I am doing so.
I'm pretty sure I had a nasty tumble down some stairs in a past life...

Revolving blades--like on a garbage disposal, lawn mower, etc.

I can't mow my lawn. We hire someone to do it. I'm terrified of the blade. I HATE running my garbage disposal.

OMG that E.R. episode where the guy (Romano?) lost his arm in the helicopter blades?!?!?!?!? Yeah...that sent me over the edge!

I've got a phobia about seaweed; I'm terrified it will reach out and drown me :(

Not exactly a phobia but I feel uncomfortable with what I call "dead" hangers where there are empty ones in amongst the clothes. I can't handle knowing they're there, hubby will pull a shirt off the hanger and leave the dead hanger hanging. I think he does it on purpose to gross me out :( I also like hangers (and toilet paper) facing a certain way and I will change it if I see it even if it's in a shop or someone else's toilet :)

Stingrays.I don't know why, I don't even like seeing them behind glass. Now my family is going on a cruise and swimming with stingrays in The Grand Cayman Islands. Needless to say I am terrified.

Stuffed animal heads! Whenever I have to go into Gander Mountain or Cabela's I almost have an anxiety attack. No idea why but they freak me out!!
