Do you have any snitches at work?

I was talking to my boss today and we decided that we have two people in his group that can't be trusted. They run right to the CEO with any "info" that he might want to hear.

I just don't understand people that feel they have to be a snitch.

This is one reason I like to watch Survivor because in that game you don't know who you can trust - much like in real life at work.

I worked in a small department (in a large company) where everyone talked about everyone. When I was promoted to the department and over there the first day, I could totally feel the tension.
Everyone was telling me don't trust this person, don't trust that person.

One day, the boss asked me to figure out a lunch schedule because we had a problem where everyone was going to lunch at the same time and we needed to have people in the department at all times. I was in a conference room with 3 of my co-workers and I called HR. I asked HR if there were any "rules" with going to lunch and clarified that I wanted to make sure that if someone came in at 7:00, could they have a later lunch like 5 hours after start time or if someone came in at 10:00 could they have an early lunch, like 2 hours after start time. (When I polled the group everyone wanted to go to lunch at about 12:00 or 12:30, even the person who came in at 10:00.)

The next day my boss called me in his office and told me that someone told him that I called HR to make sure he could dictate when we go to lunch. I told him the exact conversation and told him if he had any issues, to talk to Matt because Matt was in the room. I knew Matt would tell the truth. I'm pretty sure I know who lied. The boss was close to both of the other 2 in the room.
It was like 5th grade in that place.

We had a few, and I knew who they were. Since there's really nothing to be gained by snitching at my workplace as far as career advancement, I think they were just childish blabbermouths trying to get admin to make everyone do things their way... you know, "So and so is not following the dress code and I want you to MAKE them stop."

Now our director has left and we will have someone new coming in. It will be interesting to see how the new admin deals with the snitches and whether the snitches feel comfortable enough with the new admin to continue their snitching.

Oh yes, we have a little group of gossips/snitches. They even go so far as to spread around personal stuff about people that work here That crap makes me sick. They'd sell their souls to get in good with the head muckity mucks

I used to work fast food and we had a woman who would tattle on us if we didn't do things exactly the right way. I remember her telling on me because I put the tomato and lettuce on in the wrong order. She tattled by asking the manager, "what order should they be in because so and so was doing it like this and I was confused." Very passive aggressive.

because of people like this I left my last job and went self employed.

when I work with people I prefer to see their faces, not the tread on the soles of their shoes, which was about all i could see of some they were so far up the backsides of the bosses.
