I'm due in less than 2 months with our 2nd boy. DS#1 will be 22 months old when DS#2 is born. We're looking for a double stroller (for everything, not just Disney). We have a Chicco carseat so I'm looking for one that fits with that. Do you have any of these double stroller brands? What do you like and dislike?

Bob
Bumbleride Indie Twin
Baby Jogger (I've only seen City Mini in person, but I didn't like that the storage was so hard to get to)

I've seen all 3 in person, and I can really see a difference in the Baby Jogger as compared to Bob and Bumbleride. But the Bob and Bumbleride seem to be fort of similar.

Until what age do kids use strollers?

Thanks for any help.

We have a double bob and love it!! We tried several other strollers, and NOTHING even compares to the Bob! It is soooo easy to push, you really can push it with one hand when both kids are in it. My kids are currently 2 and 4, and we still use it for long day trips. When they get tired, they have never had a problem with falling asleep in it. We did buy the extra cup holder/key attachment and that is worth every penny too! We've never had any trouble with storage either. Pleanty of room in that thing!

My kids are 22 months apart, too and I have/had a valco trimode twin, a baby jogger city mini double, a phil and teds, a graco quattro tour, and a mountain buggy double. And while I dragged my feet for a long time on getting a phil & teds (all dfferent reasons, the child in the back won't be able to see, they'll fight over seats, the back child will kick the front child, the front child will fart on the back child, etc) it is definitely my go to double for nearly everything. The Valco and MBUD are similar to the BOB and bumbleride, and the classic baby jogger city series. While all very nice strollers, they are very heavy, bulky, and a pain to cart around. Once open and going, they all push very nice, have big seats, lots of storage, etc. But lifting those things in and out of cars, setting them up, the amount of trunk space the take up can all be very big cons when you start using it. I've now sold off everything but the city mini and the phil and teds. I use the phil and teds for everything except disney and neighborhood walks, which I use the BJ mini for.

If you take the wheels off the BOB it lays pretty flat in the trunk. It only takes about 10 seconds to pull the wheels off and put them back on. Just the flip of a switch and they pull off/go on really easy. I will agree with the above poster though on the fact that it is heavy to lift in and out of the car, but I haven't found a double stroller that wasn't. I consider it my workout. It is a total preference though. I would suggest going to your local baby store and trying a few out.

Our DDs are 20 months apart and we originally used two singles as we had an Eddie Bauer tandem that was terrible! It wa sheavy and poor at manuevering. Since it was a gift we didn't complain too much, but instead went to using two singles. When our youngest DD was about 8 months we switched to a SIt and Stand and that worked great! I never used it with a carseat but I know that it can accommodate certain brands. As we're about to have DS in a few weeks we needed to find a new double stroller as DD#2 still rides in one. We purchased the twin (side by side) Phila nd Ted and it is very nice! We took it on a practice run at WDW in October and both girls did great in it, so baby should do fairly well too. But we don't plan to put the carseat in it, instead a bassinet instead. To use with the carseat we did purchase a new sit n stand as it's great for our quick every day jaunts as it's much lighter than the P&T.

Please go and check out the new Baby Jogger City Select. It has only just come out this month and is a brand new model. We saw it at a baby show and fell in love with it so much that we preordered and paid in full right then and there knowing that our DS would be 3 months before we got it.
It can be either a double or a single. The seats can be moved into so many different configurations very easily, super easy fold down, HUGE basket.
We too had been looking at the exact same strollers that you were but there was something we didn't like on this one and something on another but when we saw the City Select, it had EVERYTHING we could want in a double.
I cannot wait to get mine. Still waiting, should be here in a couple of weeks. When I spoke to customer service at Baby Jogger the US release date was Jan 5, but I know they were selling out of them very fast as it has already won design awards.

We have the Baby Jogger City Elite Double. We love it and we tried EVERY double stroller out there in person before buying. We have an almost 2 1/2 year old and a 5 month old. The Baby Jogger City Elite Double is the ONLY stroller that we will be able to use for our 2 1/2 year old for at least a year. Granted, she is very tall, but several of the double strollers she already did not fit in -- including the BOB -- and others she had no room to grow (e.g., Phil&Ted).

The other great thing about the Elite (and all Baby Joggers) is the quick-fold technology (it folds virtually flat with one hand pull) and the fact that it has a combined weight threshold of 100 lbs. My 2 1/2 year old is already 40 lbs. The City Select (mentioned above) for example, has a per seat weight limit of 45 lbs. So it is something that we could not use. Also, the Elite reclines completely flat for the infant, which is another reason we love it.

Note, however, that the Baby Jogger City Mini did not have the same head room has the Elite, so that was not an option for us either.

I dont know about these 3, but I am so glad not to see the Graco Duo Glider listed. That thing was a pain in my butt for the 1yr I used it (sat in storage for another year b4 I finally sold it). Its hard to drive.

I have a friend who has a Phil and Ted w/ the double kit and she really likes it. I've seen them all over Disney and they look like they would be easy to push. If only I could find one.

You can find these strollers almost anywhere nowadays, including babiesRus. A lot of people I know love these but be forewarned that they tip over easily and also be sure to test out your child in it first. We took our DD to try out the 2nd seat before her brother was born & she HATED it. Refused to go in it. She has never refused a stroller before and is not a difficult child.

I have to second a bit of this while we have the P&T w/doubles kit and used it for a trip and loved it then when DS #2 turned 2 he whole heartdly protested hte back seat. We have a mess of strollers incl 5 doubles, and right now we've been using the Tike Tech City X3 we got for our December trip and it's worked out great. We had moved away from the SBS for a while since they COULD NOT keep their hands off each other but that's improved. So it was a spendy investment for one trip, your kids really have to LOVE that back seat for it to be a long term option.

We have a Chicco carseat, so we were dealing with that, too. :) We have a BOB Revolution Duallie and a Joovy Ultralight Sit & Stand. The problem with the BOB is that it's not technically compatible with the Chicco - we didn't feel comfortable using them together because it didn't seem to fit well with the carseat adapter, so we bought a used Graco carseat on Craigslist (we just used it for running so I wasn't concerned that it was used). Other than that, the stroller is AWESOME!!! The major downfall it's it's huge design though, I have a regular sized SUV (a Hyundai Santa Fe) and it takes up most of the room in the back when it's there, and the wheels have to be off, so that's just one more thing to do if we take it somewhere. We normally use it for running at home. We did rent a minivan for a vacation once, and it was great then because there wasn't a space issue.

The Joovy is amazing if you want a S&S. It's not good for long walks and doesn't have as much storage space, but it's lighter than my Chicco cortina and takes up less space in the back of my car than the Cortina did. I love it! DD1 is almost 3 and was rarely in a stroller before DD2 was born (other than for big day trips to the zoo or when we went to WDW or whatever), but she rides in the Joovy because it's easier and she feels more like a "big" kid on the bench, but she can also just walk along with me and I don't feel like I'm pushing one of those huge tandem doubles since the Joovy is shorter.

We did buy a Combi Twin (craigslist) for WDW because we wanted something to fold up smaller, but still have full seats for both of our children, so we'll be bringing that with us on our trip.
