Do you have Air Conditioning in your home?

I'm in north central Texas. We run it about 8 months out of the year. Around here, people DIE from not having A/C in the summer... seriously.

Born and raised in TX and now living in FL, we HAVE to have A/C!!! I can't imagine life without it!

There are people who DON'T have AC in their homes???? I'd DIE! :scared:

I'm a polar bear living in Ga, but I had it in NY, too. It's a MUST! ;)

I do. I get terrible migraines in any kind of heat/humidity. I honestly couldn't live without it. We're visiting my boyfriend's family this weekend. They don't have it. The temperatures aren't going to be high, but it's supposed to rain and storm this weekend...guess who'll get sick?? :( And they know I'm sensitive to it, so I'm afraid they're going to feel bad, which will make me feel bad, which will stress me out, which is another trigger.... It'll be a fun weekend. :lmao:

Never had it as a kid. Then as an adult I bought a window unit. Ten years later... We built a 2 story house with a basement. The top story REALLY holds the heat where the bedrooms are. We were then up to 4 window units. Then when we had 2 continuous summers of 33-36C with stretches of it at 3 weeks or so we finally caved last summer and had central air installed. Yes even in Canada the snow eventually melts and we get heat! It truly was the best decision. Allergy problems solved and we can sleep at night!:goodvibes

We built our house w/central air 30 yrs ago. At this stage of the game in life, I truly don't think I could make it long w/o AC and ceiling fans. My heart goes to all those w/o this neccessity and living in hot climates. :guilty:

We have Central Air, but we have only used it 3 or 4 days so far this year. We only turn it on when the temps are in the 89-90 degree range or higher.

We have central AC and we live in Northern NH. I do not use is that often, but I love having it even for those short heat waves. Poor DW works in a nursing home, where it gets sweltering at times ... she loves coming home to a nice cool house.

We have two window units that cool most of our rooms but we only use it maybe 3-4 times a summer.

I have one window unit in the kitchen. And then set up fans throughout the house to try to get a tunnel going (luckily it's only one story). I haven't turned it on yet, and only use it when I need to, trying to save energy/money.

YES!! we live in Florida so I could not live without it!! lol I did not have it when I was a kid because my parents could not afford it so I KNOW how it feels not to have it in Florida and I am soooo glad they have it now.

We didn't have any AC when we used to live in Homestead, FL. And it wasn't until about 7 years ago that we got a window unit here in the house in NC. I got to where I can't stand sleeping in the summer without AC and fans (not alot of the AC gets to my bedroom).

We have window units. We live on Long Island. I desperately wish we had central AC. I absolutely cannot sleep when its hot. My window unit goes in in late April/Early May and will stay in and on until late September. I need it for my allergies, living on the second floor, and so I can sleep tonight.

I always say I would make a terrible prarie woman. I am so thankful to the person who invented AC!

Central A/C is a must for me. I love when it's cool enough so I don't need to run it (like this week!), but I'm SO glad I have it when it gets hot and humid.

the idea of NOT having A/C is completely foreign to me....
Ditto! My house has THREE AC units, one for downstairs & two for upstairs. When you live in the Mojave Desert, you need it . . .

Oh my yes, I couldn't live without it and it runs 24/7 and I don't care what it costs, I am NOT going to be hot.

Last week it was over 100 degrees all day, everyday and the house would still get hot (my grandmother had to have lots of windows in the house and now I am paying for it). It is significantly better this week and I am going to get some tint for the den windows to see if thta would help reduce some of the afternoon heat.
We also have ceiling fans that run all summer as well and with it as hot as it has been we have even used some small room fans in the den/kitchen/dining room area since it is so open and no afternoon shade.

If you live in the South, you MUST have AC

Suzanne

We added central air the summer I was home & very pregnant (and hot and cranky!) I have only used it 2 days this year (last week) but some summers we have to use it much more, often due to the humidity.

It's a must around HOT-lanta!

The only time I lived without was in Connecticut and I made do with open windows and fans.

We did not have a/c until a couple of years ago. When we replaced our furnace we had them put a/c in at the same time. Best. decision. ever. With our allergies, it's heaven to keep the pollen out and still feel comfortable. Lots of people in Western New York don't have it, but then again lots do.
