Do you have AAA and is it worth it?

We have it, and I have used it a few times for roadside assistance.

We signed up for the lowest tier for first time ever last winter. Two weeks later, our son totaled his car. We only had the three mile towing but they had a deal to AAA members so much per mile to get his car towed all the way home (he wanted to part out the car to salvage some money). The reduced price saved him $100 over non triple A member rates for a 60 mile tow.

We're going to look into upgrading this year to the next level even though our son assures us he will not fly anymore trans ams' through the trees!

AAA is well worth it to me. We drive older vehicles--last year, I needed "jumping" twice and two tows! It saved me a ton a money.

Another thing that saved me some green was allowing AAA to book 2 rental cars out of town for me. I'm pretty savvy in finding bargains online--but they were able to get the best deal available twice (this was for rentals in FLL).

Oh, and when I bought DH WDW ticket from them last year, they gave me a "Diamond Pass" for the preferred parking area. We stayed in Windsor Hills and I already have an AP so between the free parking and the Diamond Pass, we were set!

I have not (yet?) needed roadside assistance, but I sometimes travel alone on business and it is nice to know the service is available. I have, however, consistently "made" enough in savings for AAA discounts to pay for my membership each year. I would suggest that you go to the discounts page of your AAA website to see what is available to see where you may benefit. If the effective cost is less by such savings, it may alter your calculations.

I agree. While we were still horseshowing, there was one hotel in particular that I always used because I was able to get a suite for a AAA rate of $64.95 (bedroom, full kitchen, and living room) that was normally $150. I've used it at many, many hotels and done very well with it.

We just got back from Pigeon Forge and used it in the outlet malls there (including 40% off at Reebok and Rockport - I think it's normally 20% but there was a special that month). It also got me a free savings booklet at the Tanger Outlet Mall that normally sells for $5.

One of the great things about AAA is that if follows you, not your car. That came in handy when I was with a friend who got a flat tire. Because I was there, AAA came out and changed the tire for us even though it wasn't my car.

Definately. Especially if you have teen drivers. Our DD needed road assistance while away at school. As a mom you feel very hopeless when your kid calls and you can't run to help.

AAA gave me an added sense of security while my daughter was away at school. I knew she wasn't going to be put in a situation of trying to find help. AAA would always be available.

My daughter's car does the same thing. She used AAA at least twice for that (maybe 3 times).

We've saved I would estimate about $600 in towing fees alone the past few years, including a tow we had just two weeks ago! Just the auto coverage is worth it, IMO. Any travel discounts and other services they offer are just a bonus.

We had it for a trip when we drove from NH to Fl a few years back... never used it for 2 years then this summer we broke down on our way to a Patriots game... We were on the side of 95, just outsdie of boston. It only cost us a $20 tip to get a ramp truck and a ride to a local garage. I think more than paid for itself. Oh, and we made it to the game on time!

Yes, how could I forget that benefit? We switched from Horace Mann and will be saving close to $1000 on home and two autos this year using AAA insurance.

We find that AAA is worth it. 1) We tend to do a lot of little road trips and can get money off of hotel rooms on overnight; case in point we just stayed over night in Harrisburg and got a room that was originally $117 for $76 - not always the case but it was a good deal. 2) You can get discounts through various stores. 3) Broken car = help when no one else is around to help.

AAA is worth it for us. We have used it for several reasons: getting keys out of a locked car, 10% at payless, 10% at Target on line etc. I think it is worth it just to know that you have someone to call if you need help.

It is worth it for us. We've been plus members about 5 or 6 years and it gives me peace of mind. I haven't used it much during this past year except for car rentals but in Nov 07 we had a tire blow out about 25 miles from home returning from a basketball tournament and it was nice to have someone else come deal with putting on the spare in the cold.

We've had it for years. Sometimes we never have to call (thank goodness), but other years we seem to get our money's worth. The best service call ever was in rural South Texas when my DH decided to drive across the grass from the service road to the interstate in foot deep mud. The easy way for the tow truck driver would have been to pull us from the interstate (since we almost made it across), but that would have involved him calling a State Trooper and we would have gotten a ticket. He wanted to save us getting a ticket so he did it the hard way of pulling us from the service road. He was COVERED in mud by the time he finished, but he wanted to get us safely on the road. We were very appreciative and tipped him well! My DH however, has never lived that one down!

DH told me he was given a discount when he showed his card at the Wolfgang Puck Express at DTD.

We also got the AAA parking pass/sticker when we bought our Disney park tickets at our local AAA office.

We've gotten discounts for hotels on other trips throughout the years. You can also order freeeAAA travel books for specific locations online.
