Do you have a work spouse?

I don't anymore...he passed away a little over 2 years ago :sad2::sad2:

DH has a work wife...and I am totally cool with it. She is there for him when I can't be. I would never/have never taken offense to the term or the relationship.

No, I don't have a work spouse and wouldn't want DH to have one either.

My husband shared an office with a woman for about two years. She recently moved to a different division and they rarely see each other. She and I joked about her being his work wife, but only in a "you're the only one who knows what I put up with" kind of way.

As a joke, I found it amusing. I wouldn't if it were some kind of serious term. I also wouldn't have found it funny if I thought they were at all interested in each other. That simply wasn't the case. She is a lovely young woman who had come to dinner at our house and invited us to hers. We talked about our churches, her dating life, our kids, etc. They were friends and by extension I was as well. I suppose some of what made it work was that they were different generations, different religions, different ethnicities, very different ways of looking at life, etc. Not exactly a match couple wise, so it was amusing. When my husband would crack a joke we would roll our eyes and say to each other "finally, someone who understands what I have to put up with!"

I can certainly see how it wouldn't have been amusing under different circumstances.

I have no problem with work spouses.

Also, it's actually pretty common for teachers in the same content areas to have a work spouse.

I have what I, and everyone else in my office calls, a work husband.
We have worked together since we both got out of college about 20 years ago.
My WH started off by the pairing of us on a team and we worked very well together. That has lead over the years to him being the one that would tell me when it was time to get my roots done , lose a few pounds, when I missed a button, had a run in my hose right before I left to see a client etc
We have traveled outside of work together a couple of times (separate rooms obviously) and just have a close relationship.
My WH will go with me to get my nails during lunch and carry my purse afterwards so I don't mess up my nails.
In reality he is just a very good friend that I happen to work with.
He also is gay.
My DH loves it cause no way he is going to NY and hit all the museums and theaters that my WH will. Also my DH would never go with me to get my nails done lol!

Being retired, I don't have any such relationships. I did have a secretary who knew me just about as well as my wife, though, but in a company that had a lot of affairs among co-workers, I decided early on to keep both feet on the right side of that line.

I had a work wife--a partner I worked closely with for 20 years. We worked together, attended events, even traveled together for work (twice to WDW!).
She was single for almost all that time, I was married--there was no funny business. My wife was also good friends with her, and when my WW finally did get married, I became friends with her husband. People sometimes thought we were married to each other because we had known each other for so long we'd sometimes communicate like "old married people". We no longer work together but DW and I are very close to my former work wife and her husband. We're like family.:)

Yes, I have a work spouse and I'm married to her. :lmao: DW and I work for the same place, different divisions, different cities. Someone other than DW, than no.

Yeah...today I found out I have several when I was shang-haied into taking them to lunch for V-day. :headache:

Aren't I entitled to a "work-orgy" now?
