yes, I have views and opinions which do not conform to mainstream views. Mostly in public I either keep these views to myself or post a very carefully worded response. I have a very good group of friends who share my views and with them I am comfortable expressing myself.

I have learnt over the years that to have an opinion which varies from the general mainstream opinion makes people feel threatened. In turn they attack the person who has a different view and a mob mentality ensures. Eventually those who express a different viewpoint stay silent as a way of self preservation.

Yes it goes something like this "Tough-love.."" when it doesn't work it's "Tough-luck!" DH, and I are like minded so it has worked really well for us.

Both sets of parents "with no tomfoolery fathers" raised us this way.. Thanks Dad.

In these times I like to think live, and let live; Tolerance goes a long way.

Ive suffered 3 major losses in my life in the last 3 years so I'm off of the "save every dime because I worry about what will happen when I'm 90" bandwagon and I'm encouraging my sons to " live a little"

No, I don't think so. I have my beliefs but they aren't radical, but I do know there are many who don't agree with them. I am like the pp a live and let live mentality. If it isn't harmful or hateful each person should express how they feel.

Had the honour of visiting with 2 very rich men who were on their death beds. It stuck with me that both told me the same thing. One of the biggest regrets they had was that they were going to die leaving a lot of money behind, they wish they had spent it.

Ditto. I do tone certain things down in certain company (nothing good can come from arguing politics with your mother-in-law on Facebook!) but I'm not very good at it and it generally isn't any secret where I stand on things even if I'm not actively discussing it.

I will argue on Facebook, and will be quite willing to discuss my POV in person as well. I don't start the discussions, but I will add to them if I disagree with what is being said. I have no problem proving someone is wrong. (even if it's me!)
