Do you have a silly irrational fear??

Two I can think of now are:
  • Whenever I go to the bathroom, I always, check under the seat. The catch is, I only do it at home, never anywhere else. If I forget to check, I get freaked out and I have to jump up and check.
  • My other fear is loud noises. I have to hold my ears for fireworks, gun shots, explosions in shows, things like that. I get very nervous and shakey if I know or think one is coming, or after a loud noise. Earplugs were a lifesaver at Disney shows like Fantasmic.

I have a fear of getting sick in public. Which means I don't eat much when we go out, I often get take-out, come home, put it in the fridge and eat it 15 minutes later. If I do feel neauseaus (sp?) anywhere besides our house I start to get nervous and looking around for what I could use if I had to. My fear is at it's worst when I know there would be no where to go quickly, and I'd end up throwing up all over the place and haveing lots of people stare, like at a stadium or on an airplane.

I don't know where this came from, but it's better than it was a few years ago!

No offense to anyone here, but my phobia is dwarfs. "little people" to be more politically correct. I have no idea where is came from but my younger sister is terrified of them as well. I can barely breathe, hands start sweating, shaking, etc. Very weird. The only other phobia I have is going to the dentist. If I don't take a mega dose of valium, there's no way I can even enter the office.

I have lots of irrational fears!

I am scared to death of spiders...I can tell myself forever that they're just tiny little things that won't hurt me, but as soon as I see one, I freak out. And I won't kill them with just a Kleenex, because I'm always afraid that I'll feel it squish or something, so I have to get a fly swatter or a shoe or something.

I also hate walking or driving over big bridges...if it's just over a little creek and I can see the bottom, then I'm fine, but if I can't see how deep the water is, I'm always afraid that the bridge will collapse and I'll drown or something.

I have to turn on a light before I walk into a room. I always reach around the corner and flip the light switch and then actually enter the room. I'm not sure why...it's not that I'm afraid of the dark, I think I'm just afraid that something or someone is hiding in the dark, so I have to turn the light on to check.

I also hate elevators, because I'm always afraid I'm going to get stuck in one. I'm not usually claustrophobic, but for some reason, the idea of being stuck in an elevator scares me to death. I still go on them, but if there's an escalator then I take it instead, and if it's only a few floors then I take the stairs.
